How to Repurpose Kit Elements into Customized Embellishments by Christine Meyer

My Creative Scrapbook Guest Designer Christine Meyer is continuing our February Creative Kit inspiration today with a fun way to repurpose kit elements into customized embellishments!

--------------------

Whenever I sit down to start a project I love to look at my supplies and try and figure out a unique way to use some element in them. As soon as I looked at this month's Creative Kit, I knew I had to make some cute ice cream cones and tell the story of my son's first experience with ice cream!

Although there are some adorable ice cream stickers and patterned paper in this kit but I wanted more and some with some dimension - here's how I achieved that.

Use a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and one of the journaling cards (I just picked one I wasn't going to use) to punch out circles for as many ice cream cones as you want to make. If you don't have a punch that size you can make it work with a 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch punch - it will just be a slightly different look. Then use a small hole punch to punch out cherries from the red patterned paper. Add the cherries to the top of your ice cream circle.

Choose the pennants you want to use from the sticker sheet.

Attach the pennant to the bottom of your "ice cream" to make a cone.

Add some of the red ric-rak as a border between your cone and ice cream. I like the extra whimsy and dimension that this adds! Add your ice cream cones either straight to your project or put foam adhesive on the back of them to make them pop off the page more.
