Hello crafty friends! Misty here with my first layout of December using the gorgeous LE Kit.
I created my “25” layout using the Limited Edition kit, a
sheet of black cardstock from my stash, and a few different mixed media
elements.
To begin, I downloaded the big 25 from the Kit Club Members
exclusive cutfiles. https://mycreativescrapbook.com/cutfiles-members/
When I cut it on my Cricut Maker, I used the heaviest weight
black 12x12 cardstock that I had. Since I knew that I was going to pop the
numbers up off the base, I wanted it to be sturdy enough to stay straight.
Once that was complete, I removed it from the cutting mat,
keeping the outline and the numbers.
I used the black number centers as a base and adhered my patterned paper to the
fronts, trimming off all the excess from the edges.
Use a white paint marker to create the faux stitching
outline on the numbers.
Wallet sized photos are the key in this layout, so that they did not completely
cover up the cutfile.
Mount those onto black cardstock and use your white paint marker to hand draw
more faux stitching around the edges of the black.
Now is the fun part!
Place the outline of the cutfile onto the background page and center it exactly
where you want it to be. Tack in place
using a dot of removable
adhesive in just a few spots and lightly
trace around the outsides using a pencil. Remove the cutfile, and now all you
see is the penciled outline.
Use that as a guide for where to add a bit of mixed media on the base page.
Use a stencil with small random circles and silver paint to
add just a few silver circles in random spots on the outside of the pencil and
let those
dry before beginning the next step.
Now, place the outline of the cutfile back into
position on the background paper, and secure it in place using wet glue.
With that in place, it is time to position the 2 and the 5. First, add foam tape to the backs of the
numbers, but do not remove the paper backing
from the side that will stick to the layout.
You will want to be able to move these as you are creating your
clusters.
The final step is creating clusters and adding them and the
photos to the layout. I create my
clusters before adding to my page…then, I will tuck
elements around them if needed. This is why I suggested to leave the paper
backing on the foam tape for the time being. I did end up tucking
a few elements behind the numbers before removing the backing tape. For my clusters, I used all the pine sprigs
from the 49 & Market laser cuts
and 3 of the thin ribbons ***I LOVE THE RIBBONS! I also used a few of the red
florals in different sizes along with several other elements.
When I build my clusters for my pages, I just try random elements from all the
options in the kit until I find some that look like they belong.
It is a trial and error process, and another reason that I do not remove that backing
tape!
When your clusters are complete, add
those and your photos to the layout, and BELIEVE goes right on top of
the photos. I made sure not to cover
up anything important in my pictures
with the Title. This is the tucking begins…I tucked in the presents to the left
of the title piece, the holly at the
top of the 5, and the sprig on the
corner of my photo. From this point,
everything gets secured in place. Copper Nuvo Drops finish off the layout as
I add several dots in different sizes around my 3 main clusters. And it is
DONE!!
Obviously you can, but you do not have to copy my layout exactly.
Make it your own… add more clusters or even more mixed media! Have fun with it!
Make sure your layout is what your heart loves!
