Welcome back, y’all! It’s Jinny here today. When I last posted over here on the blog, I was under the assumption that it would be my last. So, I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to be back this month! I so appreciate the warm welcome and am having such fun showing off these kits for y’all! I hope that you’re having just as much fun playing with them! This month’s July Creative Kit is packed to the brim with goodies from Simple Stories’ Summer Snapshots Collection, paired with a fabulous assortment of ribbons; perfectly-coordinated, white cardstock, die-cut sun; fantastic, wave stencil; and 12x12 sheet of playful, American Crafts, glitter cardstock, the latter two of which I’ve chosen to highlight in today’s post. So, let’s jump right in!
I started this layout by smudging Faded Jeans Distress Ink, through the given wave stencil, onto a sheet of textured, white cardstock from my stash. It was a little tricky matching up the waves to enlarge the canvas; but turning the stencil upside down, got the job done. I then splattered it with water, as well as Titanium White, acrylic paint, to give it more of the look of white-washed, foamy waves. Once it was dry, I cut a large circle in the center of the glitter cardstock (I simply used a bowl as a template.) and attached it, as a frame around the stenciled cardstock, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches. That set the stage for my photos, which I decided to also cut in the shape of circles, matted with white cardstock. I then dove deep into the Summer Snapshots Collection for my embellishments. These darling seagulls had me at hello.
This “HITTIN’ THE BEACH” phrase was cut in the shape of a circle and anchored with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching, topped with a sweet, little, camera tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow.
I combined cardstock stickers and die cuts, popped up with layers of foam tape, to create this scene.
A couple more die cuts…
bring us to the first chipboard element. I love that this lone seagull highlights that glitter cardstock so well. It reminds me so much of sand.
A trio of cardstock sticker phrases…
and more of those chipboard stickers to spell out the word “summer”, right along the rounded stitching, as well as an “a summer of fun” die-cut title, complete the look.
Just in case you missed them, here are a few more projects that I created using the July Creative Kit; and when I said above that this kit was packed, I meant packed! I still have so much left to inspire me all through the summer months ahead.
Thanks so much for visiting today, My Creative Scrapbook friends! I cannot wait to see what y’all cook up with this month’s kit(s)! Be sure to stop by the blog, as well as our Design Team Gallery, for lots more fabulous inspiration; and have fun getting creative. Be blessed!
