White Washing and Coloring Chipboard Pieces by Shell Carman

My Creative Scrapbook Design Team member Shell Carman is back with another fab technique to show you featuring our March Main kit!

This is our second post today- please scroll down to view the previous post.

Here's Shell...

Hi There!

The March Main Kit contains the very cute chipboard pieces from Prima. There are endless ways to alter these pieces to suit your project but today I have a simple way of white washing some of the flowers to add a hint of colour & texture like I did in this page

You will need
Prima chipboard pieces (I used the flowers)
Gesso
Shimmerz Sky Blue (Or your choice of colour)
Shimmerz Hot Pink (Or your choice of colour)
sand paper or emery board
Liquid Pearls

Prime each flower with a coat of gesso.

Once dry paint 1 flower in Shimmerz Sky Blue & the other in Shimmerz Hot Pink

Once dry paint a light coat of gesso on each flower.

Once dry gently take some sand paper or an emery board (I used an emery board) & lightly sand each flower. This will allow the Shimmerz colour to pop through the top coat of gesso.

The combination of the Shimmerz with gesso give a textured, gritty finish.

Place a drop of yellow Liquid Pearls in the centre

This is how they look finished

This is a quick easy way to add a little colour to the chipboard pieces without the colours being to strong.

Thanks for joining us today!
