Hi Ladies,
Here is my blog post for the May main kit. I made 6 layouts this month, what a fun kit!
Hello, My Creative friends.
I absolutely loved this month's kit! I love to travel and hike and ski and explore so it was very versatile for many types of layouts this month.
Today's layout it is featuring a cut file from the website that makes a fabulous background. It is the pieced heart cut file, and I chose to just use the inverted pieces rather than the file itself. I cut the file first to use as a guideline in placing the negative space pieces. Then I worked on cutting all the pieces using a variety of the kit papers. I used 8 patterns, twice each. This took quite a while!
Next, I chose the plain paper with the envelope blue and red edging pattern. A natural frame for the heart. I used the cut file as a template to place each of the pieces of the heart to make sure it was all lined up perfectly. Then I picked 3 gorgeous pics of a trip to Dubai my husband took recently. I backed those in navy to tie in with the border color. I wanted to keep the embellishments pretty simple as the didn't want to cover too much of the heart background. I could not go past that adorable plane, and I loved the chipboard title 'Weekend Adventure' because this is exactly what this trip was before work meetings.
I'd love to hear if you have ever used the negative pieces from a cut file to create a layout? I think it is something I will definitely try again as I love the end result. I hope you are all enjoying your May main kit and I am excited to see what everyone creates.
