Dimensional layot with Claire!

Today I’m sharing a very dimensional layout made with folded paper strips from the April 2024 Main Kit.

I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to approximately 11”x11”, double mounting it on two pieces of patterned paper and stitching around the edge to secure in place.  I love the effect of machine stitching on a layout. I haven’t done it in a while but love the effect.

Next, I picked three patterned papers from the kit, choosing tones that matched the colours in my photographs.

Each strip is 12” long and 1.5” wide. I gently folded each piece in half, being careful not to crease the fold, instead leaving it in a looped effect.

To hold the shape in place, I added double sided sticky tape ¾ of the way down each strip leaving the loop end unstuck to create the dimension.

I lay these vertically on my page, staggering them in a double layer and alternating patterns as shown in the picture above.

Once these were in place, I added my photos, backed with patterned paper from the kit, offsetting one against the other and raising them on foam before adhering to the page.

To embellish, I created clusters around my photos, adding foiled frames, cardstock ephemera and vellum florals.  By mixing materials, it adds texture and interest to the page. The vellum florals in particular are a beautiful element as the light shines through the flowers and picks up the gold foiling, immediately drawing your eye across the page.

What’s great about this kit, it the versatility it offers. Alongside the beautiful floral and outdoor elements, there are a wide range of other embellishments including this cute little glass and bottle which fit my photograph perfectly – I couldn’t resist it so created a small cluster to echo the photo.

In the opposite corner, I added a small foiled sticker, again raising on foam and drawing your eye into the photograph.

I used one of the sentiments from the Cardstock Epehmera pack to finish the layout, nestling it amongst the vellum florals and foiled leaves.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and the dimensional layout I have created.

The April 2024 kits are perfect for Spring scrapping. The colours, patterns and texture are just gorgeous! You can check out the kits in full on www.mycreativescrapbook.com and view the DT Gallery for lots more inspiration.

I’ll see you next month with another layout. Until then – happy scrapping!
