Hi everyone,
Claire here (@scrappysoulmate), and today I’m sharing something I have wanted to do for quite a while but never quite got round to it. It’s a white on white layout, featuring the ‘Square Off’ cutfile that is included in the September 2022 kits.
I started with a piece of white cardstock from my stash, and cut the cutfile at 11.5” square on another piece of plain white cardstock.
Once cut out, I lay the file on top of my white cardstock base, and held it in place in several places around the outside edges with small pieces washi tape.
I took my sewing machine out, and stitched across each square in a diagonal patten, following the lines of the cutfile.
I really love how this turned out. In real life, it’s so beautiful. It’s been tough to try and do it justice with the photographs, but I promise, the time and effort was worth it.
Next, I wanted to create my main cluster in the bottom left corner. I fussy cut one of the Frames from the ‘Get Out’ paper, and removed the centre with a craft knife so my photo could sit inside. I mounted the frame on foam before attaching my photo, creating a sunken aperture.
I added a tag from the ‘For You’ paper and layered this under my frame, adding some twine from my stash to tie a bow.
Around the frame, I added a guitar and two phrases from the ephemera packs.
Next – the fun part – the florals!! I adore the soft florals so I fussy cut a whole handful from the ‘Moon Flower’ paper, mainly in the cream and pink, with a few darker brown for contrast.
I added some flat and some on foam, curling some of the petals and leaves for extra texture and movement.
Once the bottom cluster was done, I added a small cluster to the top right.
I cut a larger flower from one of the tags in the peachy colour and used that as my anchor for the fluster. On top, I added some of the smaller fussy cut florals to mirror the bottom cluster.
Alongside the cluster, I added my title ‘ Love’ using the Thickers included in the kit.
As a final touch, I added some gold splatters and a few gold and silver sequins.
I really love how this turned out, and am so glad I finally got to try out a white on white layout.
I hope this has inspired you to create with these beautiful kits, and I love to know if you give this technique a try.
Enjoy!
Claire
