All Smiles layout using March 2022 Main kit and cut file by Claire Hawkins

March 2022 Main Kit: Claire Hawkins

Layout:

Hi everyone!

Claire back here with you today, sharing my favorite layout made with the March 2022 kit, which features Maggie Holmes Market Square.

I adore pastel shades of pink, green and blue together – I just think they’re so pretty, so I was excited to create when I saw theses shades throughout this month’s kit.

I started with a 12x12 piece of white cardstock and brushed some distress oxide ink in Speckled Egg across the background, using a dry brush in a circular motion. This is a favorite technique of mine that gives you lots of control and allows you to build color up gradually and evenly, without any harsh lines.

Once the color was done, I used the same ink, but deposited it on some packaging and added water, enabling me to create splatters across the page, helping create depth.

I used the Floral Cluster cut file included in this months Main Kit and cut it twice, mirroring the design at the top and bottom of the page. I backed it using just the green, pink and peach papers, complementing it with the beautiful chipboard and ephemera pink roses for extra interest.

In between the two floral clusters, I positioned my photo, adding double matting and using two tags from the cut apart sheet on either side. I also added one of those adorable hot air balloons from the chipboard stickers sheet – there are so many gorgeous items on there!

For my title, I used the foiled acetate piece, which is so reflective in the light – it mirrors the water in the background of my photograph.

I added a few more of the chipboard pieces, this time pulling together all the heart shapes in corresponding colors, which really helps to pull the page together.

As a finishing touch, I folded back the top and bottom corners, adding some heart patterned paper to frame the page.

As you’ll see from the other designers on the blog, this collection really is so versatile – from subtle colors and soft patters to brighter, bolder statement pieces, the possibilities really are endless, and your creativity can run wild!

I hope the kit, and my layout, inspires you to get creative.  Enjoy, and have fun!

See you next month.
