Time For us with Rebecca!

Today Rebeca Ruiz is sharing her process on how she created her layout Everyday Moments! She used our January 2022 Creative Kit!

Hi!
Hope you are having a great day! Has it happen to you that a collection is so pretty you don't want to trough it away before making something else with the biggest pieces you have? Well, this is what happened to me with the Day in Life collection by Echo Park that is featured in the January 2022 Creative Kit of My Scrapbook Creations. After making the 6" x 8" binder mini album and one layout, I still had a few pieces of papers, so I grab them all and make this layout. The good news, I also recorded the process of making it and you can see the video at the end of this post.

Let's start talking about how I made this layout. First, I prepared the white cardstock with clear gesso and let it dry. Then, I added Pop Art Shimmerz paint to it. I used a piece of transparency to apply the paint, then add water and move the paint using the same transparency. When it was dried, I added gold splatters using Miner, Miner 49er paint by Shimmerz. I let the paint dry before I added dots to the background using an stencil I think is from Vicki Boutin and white modeling paste. This Deco Art paste dries quickly, five minutes or less, I love it!

Once the background mixed media was ready, I choose three pieces of patterned paper from the kit to create the banners. They are all 2 1/2" wide and the height varies. I cut one of the edges in "V" shape to create the banners and distress the edges of all the papers.

After that, I added the paper stripes at the bottom using scraps from the kit because I didn't have the 12" paper sheets, but since they are teared and distressed, it wouldn't be notice. I used my nails to distressed the edges and to fold the border a little bit.

To make the central photo the focal point, I made a frame out of the wood paper and added it to the layout using foam tape. After that, I started embellishing the layout using flowers and butterflies fussy cut from the papers. I added most of them with foam tape for dimension. The label on top is a sticker.

The white leaves were cut on the Silhouette using a file from Echo Park. Sometimes, when I'm using the machine and have little spaces available I added this design and store them in a resealable bag to have them on hand because they add a nice touch to floral clusters.

For the title I used the white chipboard alphabet included with the kit and the words Thickers. I colored the white letters using a Kingart watercolor pearlescent set I bought at Marshalls last year. They were very cheap I didn't know how they will paint, but OMG they are gorgeous. You can see the shimmer in them and they are very concentrate, I'm in love with them!

At the end, I added a few gold dots I had in my stash and stitched a border around the layout using white thread.

No matter this layout was made basically with scraps, I love how it turned out and I'm happy I used so much of this kit. Here is the process video for this layout:

Thanks for your visit, I hope you like this layout as much as I do and it inspires you to craft!
