Hello My Creative Scrapbook fans! Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by the blog today! I've created another step-by-step tutorial for one of my layouts for you. This month I received the January Creative Kit to play with and I was so happy with it! I just adore the Echo Park "Day In The Life" collection!
This is the layout I created:
First I unpacked this month's kit, the January Creative Kit. Look how awesome it looks! I just love those alphas!
Next I chose one of the patterned papers to use as my background paper. This was one of the extra papers, so not one of the Echo Park Day in the Life papers (this made the decision to use this one for the background a little easier, lol). At the top and bottom of the paper I glued two torn strips of paper, like this:
Next I used my Silhouette to cut one of the free subscriber cut files from Peartree Cutfiles called "Happy" and backed the "A" with a photo of my daughter reading a book and the other letters with various pieces of patterned paper.
Before placing it on my background paper I mixed gesso with a little water to create a mixed media background:
Using a piece of plastic packaging I transferred the watered down gesso on to my background paper:
To straighten the paper again I put it through my Minc machine twice. The heat of the Minc flattens the paper again. Such a neat trick!
Next I placed the Happy cut file on my paper and got out the customizable Thickers from Vicki Boutin and chose a spot where I wanted to place the words "books are her":
Now came the fun part! The coloring of the letters. These Thickers are especially designed so you can color them in any way you want! So fun!
After adding a few more ephemera I machine stitched twice around my layout and also over the cut file and over some die-cuts:
This was such a fun layout to create! Taking time to create pages like these make me so happy!
Here are some more close-ups:
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope I've been able to inspire you to give this kit a try (don't forget to share if you do!)!
