November Main Kit: Claire Hawkins
Layout: That’s a Wrap!
Hi everyone!
I’m excited to be back with you again
sharing another Guest Designer layout for My Creative Scrapbook, using the
beautiful November Kits which features the Create Paper Busy Sidewalks collection.
I started with a piece of 12x12 white
cardstock and the Christmas Cookies paper which has a gorgeous green polka dot
patterned paper on the b side. I trimmed
the green paper down, taking about ¼ of an inch off so that once placed on the
white cardstock, it would give me a natural white frame around the outside.
To give a little extra texture, I
distressed the edges and added machine stitching to 3 sides with gold thread
(You have to have gold at Christmas, right?!)
For the side of the paper with no
stitching, I cut a straight line from the middle of the side to the middle of
the paper and rolled the edges back.
I really wanted the paper to reveal that
lovely striped Holiday Glow paper, so I cut 2 squares of this and placed them
under the green paper and rolled them to create a layered look before sticking
them in place and mounting the patterned papers to the white card.
Next, I began to make my bow, which I made
from a scrap square of plain vellum from my stash. The bow was really simple to make. I followed
a quick tutorial on YouTube which you can find here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkhtS2eXUfc
I did make the bow bigger than the
measurements given in the video, so that it would suit the size of my page.
I used one of the lovely foiled stickers
from the Accent & Phrase Stickers in the centre of the bow, and placed it
at the top of the rolled paper – my idea was to create a look that resembled a
gift being torn open with the wrapping paper curled at the sides.
Once the bow was fixed in place, I added a
fussy cut tag from the Merry Merry paper and added some gold twine. I matted my
photos and placed them at either side of the tag, sliding some smaller tag
pieces under my photographs. I created
some gift clusters, fussy cutting some parcels from the Holiday Style paper. I
layered some flat, with some on foam pads for dimension.
For a bit of extra interest, I added a
Merry Christmas tag, which hangs just to the side of the rolled paper.
Finally, I used the gold foiled alphas from
the Sticker Book to create my title, adding the holly sprig and some gold stars
around the page for a finishing touch.
