Explore with Claudia Ressier

Hello crafty friends, I am back with a blog post with the gorgeous papers of the September main kit. This time, I took an MCS exclusive cut file and backed it with the beautiful papers by Pink Paislee. I knew I wanted a color combo with lots of pink in it, as this is one of my favorite colors.

First, I prepared a watercolor background after having sketched out the area of my layout. I took a big part of the beautiful flower paper, tore one side of it, and added another torn strip of the mustard-colored paper to the right side. Both papers are also part of the backed cut file, so I wanted to have them both on the design. I then decided to add another strip of burgundy card stock for the cut file to sit on vertically and stitched it down.

Next, I started working on the center part by backing the photo with several small paper pieces from the ‘And Many More’ collection. I mounted everything on foam, adhered it a little askew to the middle of the page, and started embellishing around the photo with fussy cut flowers and some stickers.

I then added a few more sentiment stickers from the sheet that comes with the kit and scattered them over the page for a balanced feel. Two tags found their place on the perimeter of the composition with twine attached to them.

Finally, I added three groups of black enamel dots to play up the two black photo corners, the black dress in the picture, and the handwritten journaling tucked in below the photo. I finished by stitching around the watercolored area of the layout to tie in with the title, mostly backed with yellow paper.
