How to Create a Fun and Interesting Title by Jaclyn Rench

We love Design Team member Jaclyn Rench's creative ideas!  Today she's featuring our December Main kit with some really fun title tips!

Here's Jaclyn...

A quick and easy way to make an impact on your page can be by creating a fun and interesting title.  You might assume that to attain an eye-catching design, you'll need an expensive electronic diecutting machine or fancy mixed media supplies. Fortunately, it couldn't be easier!  Achieving this result requires only a package of Thickers, an embellishment or two and some wax paper.

The wax paper is the secret weapon for this technique, and will prove to be a game changer as you arrange and rearrange your title work for the perfect results.  Placing your title Thickers onto wax paper, allows you to easily manipulate and adjust them for perfect results.  Not only that, it allows for a mostly transparent background to lay atop of your page design, when you might not be exactly sure of your title's final placement.

In this instance, I wanted to use the title "Merry & Bright" and arrange the letters in a tree shape, for an added punch.

As you can see, I definitely didn't achieve the proper spacing and configuration on the first try.  If I had skipped the step of using wax paper, for my practice run, I would have risked ripping my background paper as I attempted to move and adjust each letter in the title.

Instead, I was easily able to continue to move and readjust my letters, until my final piece mimicked a Christmas tree.  The set of Thickers included in this month's kit, includes many fun extras and icons, which proved to be good 'filler' pieces for adding the finishing touches to my tree.

Here's a look at a page I designed with December's main kit, using this title technique.

In this instance, rather than filling in the blank spots with Thickers, I reached for the diecuts and wood veneers, included in the kit, to create more interest and dimension.

I hope you'll give this title treatment a try.  It's quick, easy and the results will really make your page shine!
