Tips for Planning Out Kit Usage with Kris Berc

Hi everyone, hope you had a great weekend!  It's Kris Berc with you today to share how I plan out my use of the kits each month.

I used to spend soooo much time being afraid to cut into any of the beautiful products that Pam's kits include, for fear that I would use something with one photo and then later decide that it would have been better suited for use with a different photo. The perfectionist trait in me would let me sit there for the longest time obsessing over where to start, so I made myself come up with a way to be more efficient and focused.

The little system that I've come up with is very helpful for me, and I thought I'd share it in case it might also help those of you who experience difficulty with where to start.

First, I decide how many projects I'd like to make with the kit. In this case, I knew that I wanted to make 4 layouts. So, I printed 4 sets of photos and laid them on the table.

Next, I pulled out all of the papers in the kit and matched them up to the 4 sets of photos, putting them into piles as I decided which to use with which.

Once the papers are sorted, I open the embellishment packages one at a time, and match them up with the photos in a similar way to how I matched up the papers. I powder the stickers to remove the adhesive and add them to the decided upon pile.

In the photo below, you can see the 4 piles of kit products that I matched up with my 4 sets of photos. The 2 smaller piles on the far left and far right are leftovers that I kind of bundle together with the idea of using them for a card or two at the end.

So, now that I'm ready to create, I set aside all but 1 of the piles so that I can devote my focus to that 1 project.

Here's one of the piles:

And here's another:

As I finish each project, I divide the leftover paper scraps up among the remaining project piles, because I do love to layer those papers on :)

I have to say that I don't always stick 100% to my piles, so as you see my projects with this kit in the gallery this month, you may notice that I've changed my mind on a paper or embellie or two, but for the most part I stick to my plan.

Hope this is helpful!
