Meet Our March Guest Designers

Spring is just around the corner! And soon, hopefully, the extreme winter that we've all been experiencing will be a faint memory. It's time to start daydreaming of springtime flowers, butterflies and happy little bluebirds. Luckily for us, that little bluebird is chipper and has tweeted in my ear that you'll be seeing all sorts of dreamy springtime elements in the March kits, which will be revealed in all their glory on March 5th.

The bluebird also twittered on and on about how thrilled he was that the following ladies would be joining us, once again, as guest designers. So please take a moment to welcome the fabulously talented Tara Orr and Gerry Van Gent!

Tara Orr

I fell into scrapbooking in the fall of 2008 while trying to write and design a personalized book for my son's 4th birthday gift. After visiting my first real 'scrapbooking' store I was in awe and completely overwhelmed with the amount of different papers, embellishments and products to choose from. I completed my first layout in November of 2008 and have been addicted ever since.

Scrabooking is an escape for me - my down time. It allows me to combine my love of crafting and photography with my artistic nature. I enjoy each and every second of the creative process involved in taking a layout or project from start to finish.

My design style is constantly changing and I am always looking for new techniques to try. I tend to gravitate towards rustic-vintage/shabby chic with lots of distressing! I am inspired by wonderful photos (of my 3 kids mostly) and awesome patterned papers. I have been fortunate enough to have several of my layouts published and my blog featured a handful of times. I am currently on the design teams for Scrapbook Star, and MyKi and a Staff Member at Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. I am honoured to be working with My Creative Scrapbook this month and look forward to working with their uber talented design team.

Gerry Van Gent

My name is Gerry van Gent. I'm a Bulgarian, but I've lived in the Netherlands for the last 10 years. I'm married to Arjen, a wonderful Dutch man, and we have two gorgeous children. We have Alexander who is 6 years old and Leanne who is 2. My kids are my inspiration. I love taking photos (sometimes too many) and I love to scrap them! I was SAHM when my first child was born and I was looking for a different way to display my photos and that's how I first discovered scrapbooking. I started scrapping in 2004 and became addicted immediately. And since then, the addiction's only increased. Luckily, I'm surrounded by friends who share the same passion for the hobby and we often crop till we drop.

I work for a hobby store (“Pipoos”) as a manager and most of my creations are displayed within the store. I've had some of my work published in our store's magazine. I work with a great team and refer to them as my second family. I love being among people, talking, helping and advising.

I'm very happy, lucky, excited and honored to be a Guest Designer at MCS for February and to work with all the talented ladies. I can`t wait to share my creations with you!

Oh, and one more thing... The little blue bird claimed that he wasn't normally one to spread gossip, but he'd overheard that Pam had finally gotten around to cleaning out that storage closet of hers. And that at some point next month, one lucky blog follower is going to have a chance at winning a nice assortment of goodies she's had stashed. He's promised to keep us posted!
