Love is Sweet with Jinny and the Creative Kit

Welcome back, My Creative Scrapbook friends!  It’s Jinny here today to showcase a new project inspired by the February Creative Kit.  This month’s kit, which includes elements from Carta Bella’s Be Mine Collection and Echo Park’s Hello Valentine Collection, not to mention a playful Carta Bella stencil, as well as a fun assortment of coordinating, clay shaker bits; trio of red heart doilies; and a seasonal cut file, is all about Valentine’s Day.  With the exception of the cut file, which I put to use on another page you can find at the bottom of this post, I’ve combined all of the elements mentioned above for today’s share.  I chose it, because it seems to be the most tutorial-worthy; however, it does showcase shakers, and I know that I demonstrated the making of a large shaker in last month’s tutorial.  Regardless, I hope you’ll join me for all the fun details.

I started this layout by using my Silhouette to cut some custom hearts and heart frames from white cardstock.  The solid hearts themselves were then inked, through the confetti stencil in this month’s kit, with some variation of Stampin’ Up’s Pistachio Pudding and Ranger’s Spun Sugar and Barn Door Distress Inks.  The heart frames were backed with clear cardstock hearts, cut with my Silhouette using that same hand-made heart cut file above, as well as foam tape to provide enough lift to make those shakers really shine.  Before fully adhering the prepped hearts together, I simply tucked a few of those fabulous clay bits from this month’s Creative Kit between them with a little, fine, white glitter from my stash.

I then added a splash of a custom-mixed, pink watercolor, just right of center, to the 12x12 watercolor paper background and splattered it with that same shade of custom pink watercolor, as well as red watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry, I added a couple of those red, heart doilies from this month’s kit, overlapping the top and right edges of my page, and anchored a number of patterned paper hearts, which were cut with that same handmade Silhouette cut file used for my shakers above, with red-threaded, straight, machine stitches, right over the watercolor puddle and paint splatters.  I used that same stitching to secure a couple of rectangular prints together in order to set the stage for my photo, which was matted with white cardstock and backed with a torn piece of printed vellum from a past Creative Kit.  This entire stage was popped up with foam tape to give me the ability to tuck the edges of my shaker hearts under it.

It was then grounded with an “I WILL LOVE YOU ALWAYS” die cut and both “you stole my heart” and “Love IS SO sweet WITH YOU” cardstock stickers, popped up with foam tape.

A “SMITTEN” cardstock sticker, popped up with more foam tape, makes a short, but sweet, title; and a couple of hand-cut, white, cardstock strips give me a place for a little handwritten journaling.

My photo itself was then crowned with a floral, cardstock sticker, as well as a tiny, little, heart tag, laced with Baker’s twine from my stash and tied in a bow.  A scattering of bitty, heart stickers completes the look.

Here are a few more projects that I created using the February Creative Kit.  I’d love for y’all to stop by my instagram @loftydesignsbyjinny for a closer look!
