Hello creative friends! There is something truly special about the traditional colors of Christmas—the deep reds, forest greens, and touches of gold just instantly bring back so many warm memories. Today, we are thrilled to share a stunning new layout by Design Team member Sandi Clarkson, featuring our gorgeous new Limited Edition Kit.
Sandi’s layout, titled "It’s a Wonderful Life," beautifully captures the cozy essence of the holidays. From the vintage-inspired ornament papers to the lush poinsettia florals, this page is a masterclass in layering and classic Christmas style. Whether you are documenting your beautifully decorated tree or a quiet moment with a furry friend, this kit has everything you need to make those memories shine. Let’s take a closer look at the beautiful details Sandi created! You can also follow along with her process here.
From Sketch to Scraps
Sandi used a versatile sketch by Laura Whitaker to ground her holiday design. You can see how the structural elements of the sketch translated into the final masterpiece:
Angled Paper Division: The sketch features a distinct diagonal line separating a grid background from a polka-dot bottom section. Sandi adapted this by using a soft, snowy pink background on top and a lush, green winter-themed paper on the bottom.
Dual Photo Placement: True to the sketch’s core layout, Sandi placed two framed photos at the center, overlapping them slightly to create a natural focal point for her holiday scenes.
Lush Floral Clusters: While the sketch suggests clusters of flowers around the photos, Sandi elevated this by using the kit's textured poinsettias and greenery to add incredible dimension.
Strategic Embellishing: The "title" and "tag" placements from the sketch were reimagined with the kit's unique pieces, such as the rustic "It’s a Wonderful Life" wood slice and the elegant "Filled with Wonder" banner.
Textural Details: The twine-tied tag in the sketch was brought to life using the green and white twisted baker’s twine, adding that perfect touch of handmade charm.
