Playing with the Main Kit with Maree

I am up on the blog today to share a layout using the September Main Kit. This was such a bright and colorful kit and so fun to design with. I went back in my photo archives 10 years to choose a picture of my kiddos doing homework.

I started with some white card stock because there are lots of bold colors in this kit. I started with a 4 inch strip of the yellow paper and laid it vertically to make an anchor for the page. Next I mounted my picture on the teal blue paper and distressed the edges.

The next step was trimming the ruler paper. I decided to place in in tilted stripes across the bottom of the page and to add dimension I rolled over 4 of the strips to showcase the B side of the paper.  (Making a little loop with the paper). Some of the strips needed to be added on to to get all the way across the page on an angle but the color blocked parts made for natural joining points,

Then I fussy cut the notice board sentiments from one of the cut apart sheets, distressed the edges and added then under the picture overlapping the image. Then I added 2 clusters of ephemera, one on the bottom right and the other on the to left of the picture. I added the Homework title at the top of the picture and the sticker sentiment - 'never stop learning'. 

I also added an little cluster on the bottom ruler strip, with the learn title and little jar of pens etc. I think that is the cutest ephemera!  Finally I added my journaling and some of the puffy stars.

I really liked how this layout turned out and it was so fun to create. I hope you enjoy your kits this month.
