Welcome back, My
Creative Scrapbook friends!
It’s Jinny here today to showcase a “dreamy”
project inspired by the August Creative Kit. This month’s kit highlights Simple Stories’
Crafty Babe Collection, which was a bit of a challenge for me, mostly because I
don’t seem to have many photos of me crafting (I’m always the one behind the
camera.); but also, because the word “babe” has negative connotations for
me. Regardless, I enjoyed the challenge
and am pleased with what I was able to cook up.
I especially loved this month’s heart stencil, so I’ve chosen to
highlight the page where it is demonstrated most prominently today. Enjoy!
I started this page by
adding puddles of aqua and green watercolors to the 12x12 watercolor paper,
base page. I then splattered it with
those same shades of watercolor, as well as pink and yellow watercolors, before
rubbing Spun Sugar Distress Ink through the strategically-placed stencil. Once everything was dry, I splattered
everything, once again, but this time with Titanium White acrylic paint. The large heart was hand-cut from the black
and white, striped print and stitched, over my mixed media, just right of
vertical center, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches. My photo was matted with white cardstock and
set atop a couple of prints that were framed with more of that same,
silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.
The polka dot print itself was extended to the right; secured with
staples to create a flap…
and given a “Dreamin’”
tab for sneaking a peek…
at my second photo, which
was matted with white cardstock and set atop a sweet, heart print, anchored
with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a snippet of
cheesecloth for texture.
The stitching, from the
papers placed behind my front photo, was hidden by a second same-size piece of
that polka dot print; and the aforementioned tab was backed with a second
“MEMORIES” tab and further embellished with a “beautiful” sticker and heart tab,
housing my handwritten date.
The “dreamy” die cut…
as well as a hand-cut tag,
laced with white string tied in a bow, and film sticker, was tucked under this
second photo. The latter were further
topped with a die-cut, from last month’s glitter cardstock, cloud, of which
you’ll find numerous more scattered throughout my design, and camera die cut,
popped up with foam tape.
A
Sticko “NAPTIME BEAUTY”
title…
and scattering of
multi-colored, heart stickers, which were machine-stitched with more silver
thread; die-cut hearts and dazzling diamonds, popped up with foam tape…
and foam hearts complete
the look.
And just in case you
missed them, here are a few more projects that I created using the August
Creative Kit.
Thanks so much for visiting today! I cannot wait to see what y’all cook up with this month’s kit(s)! Be sure to stop by the blog, as well as our Design Team Gallery, for lots more fabulous inspiration; and have fun getting creative. Until next time, be blessed!
