Hello My Creative friends!
Maree here, to share a layout I created using the gorgeous August Main kit. This was such a fun kit to play with and I thoroughly enjoyed creating with it this month. For this layout I had some beach pics from a recent trip. I wanted to sort of re-create the feel of the ocean with paper and mixed media.
I started with a white card stock background. Then I layered on some distress oxides in the colors, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass. I just put them on with a blending brush. Then I created some fine splatters in the same 3 colors. Next I added the wave stencil that came in the kit and rubbed some white texture paste through it. A lot of my mixed media was covered up with pics and embellies but it looked really pretty!
The next step was to rip the blue stripe paper to somewhat resemble waves. I distressed all the edges and glued the paper down. I backed my pics with the yellow sunshine paper and adhered them down in a central position. Next was the "Hello Sweet Summer" title. The HELLO and sweet are stickers and the sweet banner is ephemera that I popped up on foam dots for dimension.
Lastly I added some of the beachy ephemera in two clusters on either side. I like to slightly overlap the pics in spots to make the layout feel more connected. I added some of the word stickers on foam dots and the "soak it up" and hat from the chipboard sheet. Finally I added my journaling and topped everything off with some watered down white acrylic paint splatters to keep that sea foamy look. I love the layout and it really captured our beach afternoon in Barcelona.
