Creating with Maree using the July Main kit from MyCreativeScrapbook.com

 Hi My Creative friends,

I am upon the blog today sharing a layout using the gorgeous July Main kit. I loved this kit and found I could take in many directions for a variety of topics. The vintage look of some of the papers mixed with the bold colors was so fun to work with.

I started with the paper strips paper and added dimension and texture by stitching with black thread across the paper strips. I like to use a button and craft thread which is much thicker than standard thread. It pops off the paper and makes more of a statement. Once the stitching was done I filled the cut file using the turquoise paper. I knew I wanted to use that paper as a background also so used the center of the paper to fill the 'Happy moments' cut file.

I backed my picture of my daughter and her best friend in blue and mounted it off to the side of the strips. I placed the cut file underneath and balanced the page with some floral ephemera. Then I cut out the camera icon from one of the cut apart papers and distressed the edges. I added the little flags behind the camera.

Finally I added some details to the strips with the butterfly stickers (which I placed on pop dots), the 'choose to shine' title and some butterflies from the branding strip. I then added some of the gold dots from the sticker sheet to add a little shine. This was such a fun kit and the layout came together easily.
