Claire Hawkins: February 2025 Main Kit
Hello, and welcome back to the My Creative Scrapbook blog.
Today, I have a love themed layout to share, but although this kit is valentines themed, I’ve used it to scrap a range of things I love – and this one features my beautiful god-daughter.
To start, I trimmed a piece of plain white cardstock to 11”x11”. Using the stencil from the kit, I brushed on some Distress Oxide in Black Soot, blending it across the page to fade out towards the edges.
Next, I picked lots of the phrases and flags from the ephemera pack and fussy cut a tag from one of the patterned papers. I knew I wanted to string these across the page to create hanging elements so I added small holes to the top which I could then thread through some twine.
I double mounted my photo with pink and orange papers from the kit, before also adding small holes to enable the photo to hang.
To keep each element in place once threaded, I adhered them with a small piece of foam behind each one, also adding a bit of dimension. To further strengthen the design, I added a black cardstock frame, laying that onto a final piece of red patterned paper to bring an extra pop of colour.
I picked small pieces of ephemera from the kit, florals, arrows and hearts to embellish across the design.
For the title, I repeated the stencilling, and used stickers from the Sticker Sheet and some more small pieces of ephemera to create a cluster. To finish, I added a border of nuvo drops, pulling on the main colours in the design to bring it all together.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post and look forward to seeing what you create with this beautiful kit!
Happy Scrapping!
