October Main Kit Layout Home Sweet Home with Maree!

Hi My Creative friends,

I'm on the blog today to share a layout from the October Main kit.  This is such a stunning kit with a variety of fabulous products and colors! Fall is the prettiest time of year and also a  nice time to sit and do some scrapping.

I'm sharing a layout today that is very simple, yet I love the effect! An easy grid pattern. I created this layout by cutting squares that measure 3x3 inches. I sewed around each square on my sewing machine and then placed them in a pattern that was pleasing to the eye.

I chose to make my photo black and white to compliment the cool tones of the colors I picked. (My son had on neon yellow shoe laces-  that didn’t help!) I printed the pic twice because some times I think it can add visual interest. I added the photos slightly off set near the middle of the layout.  I just love that ‘Home Sweet Home’ ephemera title that was perfect for this pic of my son hanging in our front yard.
I created 3 different clusters on the page. This little leaf and acorn cluster by the title, which I used a one inch circle punch to cut out part of one of the stickers from the sticker sheet. The original oval shape just didn't work, it was too big.  The one inch circle worked much better. Don't be afraid to cut and change ephemera and stickers to make them work for your layout.

The next cluster on the top left of the page focused on that adorable Sweater weather phrase which I popped up on some foam dots. I also used some of the vellum ephemera which is so pretty and delicate. I added another gold acorn because they are just so cute!

The final cluster I made out of a journalling card and some phrase stickers. I stuck to all cool colors for the layout with pops of gold. I also added a few gold enamel dots from my stash. I popped up the words on foam dots and tucked the foliage pieces in behind them.

I finished the page with some journaling and sewed around the boarder. I put the white background on the grey gingham paper to keep the look cohesive. I always gut the middle of the paper when I use this technique to save the inside of the paper!

I hope you are all enjoying your October kits!  I think they are just beautiful and have loved creating with it.
Have a crafty day.

Maree
