Creating with Claire using the October Main kit

Claire Hawkins: October 2023 Main Kit

Hello,

It’s Claire with you today, sharing a dimensional layout I made using the October 2023 Main Kits.

I adore this kit – full of autumnal colors that are perfect for this season.

To echo the colours in the kit, I decided to use a sheet of 12x12 Kraft cardstock as my base. Taking the stencil from the kit, I created a background for my design to sit on using two shades of Distress Oxide in Walnut Stain and Frayed Burlap.

Then, on to the fun part – creating these fun concertina leaves! I love making these leaves. They’re so quick and easy to make, but leave a big impact on the page.

You’ll need to choose four different patterned papers, and then cut a 5” square from each.

Staring from the corner, you need to concertina fold the leaf, noting that the depth of the finished leaf will be determined by the size of the folds, so just something to keep in mind.

Once the leaves are folded, you’ll need to bend them in half and adhere with strong tape down the centre to create the leaf shape.

I adhered the leaves to the page using Glossy Accents, ensuring a firm hold. I positioned them in a central, vertical design, leaving a space in the centre for my two photographs to sit.

To make sure the photos were attached securely, I added foam tape helping them lay flat against the dimension of the leaves.

To embellish, I chose some leaf elements from the ephemera pack, and curled the edges to give them extra movement on the page.

My ‘Sweet’ title is adhered directly to the photo, gain using foam tape for separation from the photograph.

I splattered ink in teal and gold and finished off with a few large blobs of Nuvo Drops in White.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout. I love making autumn leaves and it’s inspired you to give this a try.

Until next time - Happy scrapping!

See you next month!
