Claire Hawkins: September 2023 Main Kit
Hi there,
I have a fun layout to share with you today using the September Main kit. It features the Hey Summer collection from Pretty Little Studio and is packed full of cheerful papers and bright colours.
For my layout though, I’ve chosen not to create a beachy page, but instead have been inspired by that beautiful parasol paper which I have turned into umbrellas to match my photo.
I started with a piece of plain white cardstock and wanted to create some sky in the background. I created a cloud template by roughly drawing some cloud shapes on a scrap piece of paper.
I placed it on my base card and applied Distress Oxide with a dry brush around the edges. To prevent harsh lines, I start with the brush on the template itself before applying light pressure and moving in a circular motion onto my background paper.
If you start with light pressure, you can always add more so don’t worry if it takes a few applications to build the colour.
Once this was in place, I grabbed my scissors and fussy cut the sheet of Parasols. I curved the edges of each umbrella to create a more dimensional look and added Glossy Accents glue just to the two edges of the umbrella. This meant they kept their rounded shape when adhered to the page.
I left a gap for the photo, using half umbrellas to slot around my photo once it was stuck down.
Next, I double mounted my photograph using papers from the kit and added this on foam to the centre of the cascading umbrellas.
I added a small subtitle ‘Fun & Sun’ from the ephemera pack, along with a small cluster just offset to the bottom left, again using elements from the ephemera pack.
I couldn’t resist that large foam So Fun title as it brought together all the colours from the umbrellas.
To finish the page, I scattered some stars from the ephemera pack, outlining them with black pen, and added a few sequins and crystals from my stash as a finishing touch.
This was a super quick and fun layout to make and I love how it turned out. Hope you like it too.
Happy scrapping!
See you next month!
