Detailing Tips by Joan Bronson

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Joan Bronson is up today with a tutorial featuring our February Creative Kit!

I admit it. I look at the My Creative Scrapbook design team gallery sometimes and think - "hay I didn't get that in my kit" or "where the heck is that?". Amazingly the products are really in the kit! The design team is so creative with the products they are given that they are sometimes hard to recognize. I thought I'd share some of my not so secret tips on how I created my layouts this month.

My first layout features my son, Charlie. I created my own chalkboard looking background using a piece of black cardstock, a white gel pen, white ink pad, and the rub-ons from the kit. I just drew a boarder around the cardstock using my gel pen then added some ink on the edges. A few other white lines around my rub on and I had a chalkboard background.

A couple other notes on this page; I tore apart one of my flowers so part of it is used on this page. I also created the small flowers using a flower punch. Lastly, I did add some of my own red twine.

You may have noticed red bling on the "My Guy" layout and wondered where it came from. Did you know you can color bling? I used a permanent marker to color my bling. I used the bling that came with the black rub-ons. I colored the bling, then let it sit for a bit to dry. Now I had red bling!

The last thing to note is that this Pebbles line has some decorative bar code strips. I used several of these. One example is with the layout with squares. I used the black and white I love you strip above the XO paper. I also used parts of other strips in the top left corner. You'll find these strips used in several of my layouts.

I hope you enjoy creating with your My Creative Scrapbook kits as much as I do!
