How to Make Pinwheel Flowers by Sandie Edwards

Hello everyone! My Creative Scrapbook design team member Sandie Edwards is here today to share how she made her pinwheel flowers with patterned paper and decorative buttons that are found in our September Limited Edition kit!

Here's Sandie:

Materials: Score-board, Glue Dots, Quick Dry Adhesive, Distress Ink, Ruler, Round Punch, Scissors, Decorative Buttons, and left over paper strips.

Paper strip should measure 1.5” X 10.5”
Score the paper strip at 1/4” intervals, and then cut in half as shown in photograph #2.

Cut each strip lengthwise in half as seen in photograph #3.

Ink edges of paper, and then fold concertina style. Use the bone-folder to get a good crease.

*Please Note: For each flower you are making, you will need to fold the first fold upwards for the first, and downwards for the 2nd piece.  The reason for this, is that they when you adhere together, you have flaps that fit one into the other.

Punch out a 1” circle for each flower you will be making.

Adhere ends of 2 concertina pieces together, as shown in photograph 6.
Place a large glue dot centrally onto punched circle.  Hold concertina flower with both hands, pushing into shape and while holding, carefully lower onto glue dot, pressing into shape to adhere well.

Your newly constructed concertina flower should look like the image in photo 7.

To complete, place quick dry adhesive into the hole at the front of the flower, and slightly around edge, and affix decorative button to the centre.  The decorative buttons have shanks, so these fit nicely into the flower centre.  Adhere to your project using glue dots.
