How to Make Paper Feathers by Liz Chidester

Hello! Today My Creative Scrapbook design team member Liz Chidester is sharing how she made her paper feathers on her layout featuring our September Main kit!

Here's Liz:

Feathers are really HOT right now but also really expensive. I'm going to show you a few tips on how to make your own realistic-looking feathers from the yellow ombre paper in the Main kit.

Hand draw a few leaf shapes on the yellow ombre paper with the top towards the lightest shade of the paper. (Mine are about 2 1/2 inches tall) Your drawing doesn't have to be perfect.

Cut out your shapes. Ink the bottom edges brown.

Fold your shapes in half. Give your center fold a nice inking too.

With your sharpest, fine pointed scissors cut several times in a slight downward position all the way up the edge. The finer, the better.  When you've got all of the feathers cut, go back and slightly cut a few whisps off of the ends for a realistic look because, lets face it, feathers aren't perfect.

There you have it!
