Hi! Today My Creative Scrapbook design
team member Lydell Quin is here with some August Limited Edition kit inspiration!
Here's Lydell:
Backgrounds are certainly fun to create and set the scene for the Project ahead. Foundations are as important as the embellishments and even though can be mostly hidden, create depth to your page.
Backgrounds can be created using many different mediums, tools and techniques.
The one I created for one of the pages I made with the August Limited Edition Kit, used some homemade Texture Paste, Some distress ink and two different Stencils.
To begin with I chose an alphabet Stencil which had a big enough surface area, that you could see a pattern printed on the top.
I smoothed the texture paste over with a palette knife and removed the stencil. Then I dried it off with a heat gun.
Once it is dry, place the original stencil back on top of the page lining up the textured surface with the stencil.
Find a colour Distress Ink that matches your Papers and a dauber or sponge and another stencil with a finer print than the original stencil. I used some sequin waste this time. Gorgeous little polka dots!
Remove the stencil and heat set the distress ink.
You can then add any drips, any other stencil marks, or stamping etc to complete your background.
Now create your page using any of your papers and embellishments from your kit.
