Adding Foliage and Coloring Alphas by Sandie Edwards

We have some Limited Edition kit techniques and inspiration for you today from My Creative Scrapbook design team member Sandie Edwards.

Here's Sandie:

Adding Foliage to Create 3D appearance and dimension.
1. Adding a little more visual interest to your layouts can be as simple as adding in several different leaves and pine branches using punches.

2. Mini Glue Dots are fabulous to add smaller items into your creations, especially for foliage.

3. Glue Dots can be cut down further to suit the size of each punched piece you will be adding to your layout.  Separate each glue dot, and while still in paper packaging, carefully cut each glue dot into half.  Keeping the packaging on while cutting is important, as will keep your scissors protected from the adhesive.  It is important to use sharp scissors though!

4. Apply your already cut in half glue dot onto the front of a punched pine branch, as shown in below image.  The reason you are applying the glue dot to the front, is because you will be adhering the branch to the bottom of flowers used in your layout. See image 4 and 5 below.

5. Arrange pine branches and leaves as explained above to beneath flower petals in a style to suit 'you'.

Colouring Alpha's
1. Alpha's can be easily coloured using a variety of products already in your current stash, including Copic Markers, Zig Pens, Acrylic Paint, Stickles,  and many more.

2.  Paint mediums are best applied with a paint brush, due to the space between alpha's.  However, letters can be cut out individually for use with paint dabbers.

3.  Several coats may need to be applied, especially if the Alpha's you are painting are a darker colour.  Dry between coats using a heat gun.  Note:  Use heat gun at a distance, so as not to disturb the quality of the adhesive backing on the Alpha's.  When dry, add to completed project.
