Step by Step Layout Tutorial and Chipboard Altering Tips by Angel Rodrigue

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Angel Rodrigue is up today with a step by step layout tutorial plus some chipboard altering tips featuring our October Main kit!

Below is the steps I took into making the layout posted above..

My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit this month include the Bo Bunny Avenue Line!!!
Here I picked this pattern paper inked the edges with Prima fluid chalk ink and did a little zig zag stitching with black thread using my sewing machine as shown in the picture. I wanted it to pop so I trimmed the pattern paper just enough so that it lets the black Cardstock peek through from behind..Then I cut the top and bottom of the huge doily that was in the kit in half and adhered it to each side of the page as shown below..

Next choosing another pattern paper I made a photo matt and stitched around it using black thread with my sewing machine inked the edges with the same ink and adhered it in the center of the doily making sure that the doily peeks out on each side evenly.
Using black cardstock I cut a piece long than the matt to make a banner and used prima chalk ink around the edges. then i centered it on top of the photo matt.
I chose another pattern paper to make a slightly smaller banner and stitched it down the center with the same thread and zig zag stitch as above.Adhered it to the center of the black banner.
Again I made another small banner and adhered it to the edge of the last banner as shown below.
Using a mini doily (from my stash) I cut it in have and centered it on each side of the banner.
NOTE: You can get these mini doilys at your local grocery stores in the cake department or  craft stores.
Using the journal piece that came in the kit I cut it in half and added it on both sides of the banner towards the bottom.
I used the sticker label that came with the collection and added ribbon to the back then used it as my title.
Next I added a banner across the top and bottom using the pattern paper in the collection .
Next I used some Liquid Pearls to outline the banners and the banner.
And there you have it the making of a Layout. Easy Peasy....

--------------------------------------------------------------

This is how I used the Chipboard pieces that Came in the October Main Kit over at My Creative Scrapbook!

I used my Prima Fluid Chalk Ink and colored the whole piece.
After I used my star dust Stickles and filled on the larger piece leaving the smaller piece just colored..
Then I appled wet glue behind it and used the as the center of my page showcasing my photo.

Very Fun and easy to do . Makes your chipboard come to life.

How to Distress Chipboard Shapes by Jodi Baune

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Jodi Baune is up today with some tips featuring our October Main kit!

Hello! I want to share with you how I created my distressed chipboard circle....the chipboard circle from Leaky Shed comes in the Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.
I used the chipboard circle and pattern paper from the kit, gesso, and a file.
I glued the chipboard piece to the backside of my pattern paper. Ranger Glossy Accents is my go-to glue for this type of project because it sets and dries very quickly. Once the glue had dried, I cut away the pattern paper. I don't get to worried about getting it cut perfectly since I plan to distress the edges.
I dry brush gesso in random areas to create a muted and distressed feel.
As you can see, random areas have been touched, but not solid around the circle.
Next, I file around the outer and inner edges of the circle. Some areas I do gently, other a bit rougher. Filing will even out the rough cut edges as well as created a distressed look.
A close up of my filed edges!
My finished circle before I added it to the layout!

I hope you have enjoyed today's quick tip! Check out My Creative Scrapbook to purchase this kit, and to get a peek at all the other kits available!
Thanks for stopping by!

Creating Your Own Background by Missy Whidden

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Missy Whidden is up today with some tips featuring our October Main kit!

Do you ever want to create your own background from scratch?  Sometimes I like to start with plain white cardstock and make my own unique design.  Here is how I made a background using paint and plastic kitchen wrap for one of my Main Kit pages!

Here's the finished page.  I added some modeling paste over a chevron stencil after the paint was dry.

How to Add Multiple Photos to One Mini Album Page by Kristin Greenwood

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Kristin Greenwood is up today with some tips featuring our October Album kit!

The great thing about mini albums is getting to scrapbook a lot of photo in a small space.  So when I create one I always look for ways to add multiple photos on each page.  I am going to share with you an easy way to add nine photos to one page!

All you will need it two sheets of 12x12 paper.  I used cardstock, but you could use a heavier weight pattern paper (like the adorable Doodlebug paper that comes in the Album Kit).

You will need cut one sheet of paper into four pieces.  Two of them need to be 6 1/2 x 4 1/4, score at 3 1/4.  Two of them need to be 8 1/2 x 3 1/4, score at 4 1/4.

Fold those cut papers at the score line.  One will open from the right side, one from the bottom, one from the left side and one from the top.  Lay them in a line in that order.

Adhere the first one (I labeled it A) on top of the second one (labeled B).  Adhere those on top of the third one (labeled C) and than all of those on top of the last one (labeled D) .

Cut nine 3x4 photo mats from the other piece of paper.

Adhere those to your mini album you just made.

Your mini album should open from the right side,

the bottom,

the left side

and the top.

Here is what it looks like on my page, a mini album for your mini album!

How to Turn a Bingo Card into a Journaling Pocket by Lisa Swift

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Lisa Swift is up today with some tips featuring our October Creative kit!

Hi everyone! Lisa here today to show you how to turn a Bingo card into a journaling pocket.

1. Cut the desired Bingo card from the Simple Stories paper in this month's creative kit and adhere to your layout.

2. Machine stitch around THREE sides of the card, leaving the top open. In this case, I used the grid border just inside the pre-printed "stitching", as my guide. If I don't have a guide, I use a ruler and draw light pencil lines to follow.

Two sides sewn, coming around to the third (and last) side. Even though all of the stitching may not show on your finished page, be sure to sew all three sides to make the pocket sturdy.

3. All stitched on and ready for a journaling tag.

4. The finished page with journaling tag tucked in.
