My Creative Scrapbook Design Team member Izzy Anderson is here to show us how she used supplies included in the May Creative kit to make her own cute embellishments!

Here's Izzy:

"Hi everyone! For my tutorial this month, I have a quick and easy way to make ribbon flowers using supplies from the Creative Kit.

I used the ribbon flower on the banner trio at the top of my layout.

I used the ribbon in the kit and cut three pieces, each 5 inches in length. I folded the ends of the ribbon to the middle and secured them, then layered the loops on top of each other to resemble flower petals. To embellish the flower, I added a circle cut from burlap and a threaded ribbon.

Another quick and easy embellishment I made from the kit was a paper clip flag as seen here on this journaling spot.

To make the flag, I trimmed down a pennant sticker from the Doodlebug sticker sheet and wrapped it around one end of a paperclip."

How to Add Your Child's Drawings and Notes to Your Scrapbook Page by Kristin Greenwood

------------------------------

My Creative Scrapbook Design Team member Kristin Greenwood has a tutorial for you today featuring our May Album kit. Read on to learn how she added her son's artwork and notes to her layout!

Here's Kristin:

"I have been collecting all the little notes and drawings that my little boy makes for me for awhile and storing them in a box. I knew that one day I would find a way to incorporate them into my scrapbook pages! When I saw the envelopes that come in the kit, I knew I had found the perfect way to include them on a layout!

To help preserve them I used contact paper to laminate them. It is a cheap and easy way to protect these little treasures!

I wanted to have easy access to them on my page so I decided to cut my page protector. Take the treasures out of the pockets and put the layout in the page protector, using a dry eraser and a ruler I drew lines where I wanted the openings to be.

I took the layout out of the page protector. To make the cuts I put a cutting mat in the page protector and cut it with an exacto knife. Wipe off any marks left from the dry eraser.

Put your layout back in the page protector. Your treasures should slide thru the cuts you made back in to the pockets."

Creating Burned Paper Edges by Carla Marchee

For our huge Prima prize giveaway, click here.
------------------------------

My Creative Scrapbook Design Team member Carla Marchee has prepared some wonderful tutorials for you with our kits this month. We'll share one now and one a bit later in the day, so be sure to check back!

Read on to see how she created her burned edges on one of her May Main kit layouts.

Here's Carla:

"Burning paper edges is so easy!!

Here is what I have done with this design.

Step 1 First I cut out the middle of the designer paper so that I can use it again for another project.

Step 2 Then I used scissors to cut a wavy edge for a ruffle effect (save the excess paper for later use).

Step 3 This is what you need:

Step 4 Before you begin have a glass of water or a wet towel close by, just in case. I held the edges of the paper in the flame just until it caught on fire.

Step 5 Then I pulled it out of the flame with a wet cloth or wiped it quickly to stop the burning.

Step 6 This is what it looks like:

Step 7 Then I brushed the edges with gesso so that it looks really cool.

Here you see my close ups:"

Mixed Media Background Techniques with Shell Carman

To view or purchase our kits, click here.

For our huge Prima prize giveaway, click here.
------------------------------

My Creative Scrapbook Design Team member Shell Carman is here with a wonderful tutorial for you featuring our May Main kit. Have a look at how she created her mixed media background!

Here's Shell:

"Hi There!

Shell Carman here today to show you how to create a mixed media background like I did on my page 'Smile'

You will need
Impasto
Gesso
Heat Gun (optional)
a Mask (i Have used a Prima mask)
Shimmerz Sky Blue
Shimmerz Pink
Tattered Angels Mist Gold (or a yellow mist)
Foam Brush
Baby Wipes

1. Once you have chosen your background paper take a baby wipe from the pack. Dip the end of the wipe in the tub of gesso.

2. Gently wipe the gesso randomly around your page. Concentrate on key areas that will be seen on your page & build the coverage the gesso

3. Holding the mist very close to the page give 4 sprays then quickly hiold the page up so that the mist drips down

4. Give the pink shimmerz a good shake. Dip your finger in the tub & flick drips of shimmerz onto the areas of gesso. Hold the page up so that the Shimmerz drips down

5. Once the mist & shimmerz is dry (use your heat gun to help it dry if you have one) Place your mask over the top of the misted areas. Use the foam brush & apply the Impasto quite thickly. Do not cover all of the misted areas though. Make sure some misted areas are left alone

6. Once the Impasto is dry (use your heat gun to help dry again) Use the foam brush & apply Shimmerz Sky Blue over the top of the Impasto

Now you have a background page with extra texture & shimmer to build your page on!

Thanks for joining us today!
Cheers"
