Lots of Techniques + Gift Idea by Angel Rodrigue

Design Team member Angel Rodrigue is sharing several of the wonderful techniques that she used on her December kit project and layouts, plus another great gift idea!

Here's Angel...

To make the shingles on my Altered birdhouse I used a circle Punch and folded it in half and glued bottom half on roof . I punched out as many I needed to cover the roof.( The amount will depend on the size circle you used..) I glued them in a staggered effect to give it that demention I was looking for.

Was done using December LE Kit except for...(Bird House and Birds was purchase at Hobby Lobby) Lace was from my Stash..

---------------

I wanted to sparkle up the bow so I used Distress stickles Dry glitter and Glossy Accents...

Here is a close up...

---------------

The snow effect you see in this layout was used from a bottle Of Snow writer...

I loved the look it gives the trees...

I just used a paintbrush and dabbed from in the bottle of where I wanted my Snow..

---------------

Another Gift Idea is a altered Frame.. I got this at walmart for less than a dollar..

I used up stuff in the kit and added a pic of my mom to give to my Sisters.. A keepsake for them to put out ... here is what I did with mine.

I used the chipboard and ribbon lace from the kit. and the trim around the frame. Made little christmas ornament from the paper as well.

To make the ornament I use a circle punch and punched out two. I folded on in half and adhered it to the center of the first one. I also added glitter to them for some sparkle...

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Anna Zaprzelska

Today we have a terrific step-by-step layout tutorial by Design Team member Anna Zaprzelska using the December Limited Edition kit.

Here's Anna...

At the beginning I cut out a ribbon graphic.

Then I stuck in the middle a paper doily, so that covered hole after cutting.

I stuck the picture on a doily, slightly on the bias.

Then I punch out some small circles,

I rolled them up slightly,

Then, I stuck them one by one, under a paper doily, so they protrude.

Here is my LO when I stuck all punch wheels:

I stuck the ribbon that I cut earlier.

Then I prepared a paper baubles, so I punch out some small circles :)

I folded each wheel in half.

Then I glued wheel halves together,

changing the colors.

I have made a big paper bauble in the same way and I stuck both under the picture.

Then I stuck some decorations: flowers and ribbon.

Then I cut out the sentiment fragment,

and sewed it to the bottom of the page, but if you don't have a sewing machine, just glue it :)

That's all, you did it!

More Mixed Media Techniques + Banner-Making Tip by Jodi Baune

Design Team member Jodi Baune is here today to share more wonderful mixed media techniques plus a banner-making tip using the December Main Kit.

Here's Jodi...

I created the background using the Brick Mask from Prima, coloring in lightly with Barn Door Distress Ink (Ranger) using a pouncer. Once the background was complete, I added my layers, tucking in the doily die in behind the photo.

The Birdcage was cut from Manila cardstock, then covered with Brushed Pewter Distress Crackle Paint (Ranger) for a bit of a distressed look. I adhered it directly to the cardstock background.

To create the outer frame, I measured 1 ¾ inches from the edge and trimmed with my paper trimmer stopping to go around the printed images of the music pattern paper. I trimmed around the bird and branches by hand with my knife. After distressing the edges, I added I thin, distressed green layer for color, followed by my red border die.

I popped the frame up using pieces of cardboard for dimension similar to a shadow box. Foam adhesive would work great in place of the cardboard,

To create the flower cluster, I started by deciding on flower placement. Next, I tucked in a couple leaves, followed by the flourish. Lastly, I tuck foliage in here and there for a bit of added texture and interest. Sporadic placement of Snowflowers covered in stickles finish the winter feel.

Cheery Lynn Designs Dies used: Bunny and Chick, Border Carnivale, English Tea Party Doily, Bird Cage, Wreath Strip, Holly Leaves, Holly Flourish, Pine Branches, Snowflowers 1, Snowflowers 2

--------------------

One of today's hot trends is banners. I have a quick tip on getting your ends even without creasing your paper. Post-it Notes! I trim my Post-it Note paper to the same width as my banner strip. Crease the Post-it and trim the ends to your liking. Now, place the Post-it to the end of your pattern paper strip.

The adhesive on the Post-it will hold it in place while you cut the end of your pattern paper!

Whaalaaa! Now you have a banner with perfectly straight ends and no creases!

Hello everyone! We hope you're enjoying this holiday season! Today Design Team member Zoe Nemburt is sharing how she decorated her resin embellishments that were included with the December Limited Edition kit.

Here's Zoe...

I used India Inks to decorate my Resin Angel, I'm sure copics would work just as good.

I just lightly traced the edges first and then went in a coloured but very lightly it doesnt take much ink.

Adding Definition to Resin Embellishments by Lou Collins

Today Design Team member Lou Collins is showing us how she added some extra "wow factor" to the resin embellishments in the December Limited Edition kit.

Here's Lou...

These Prima Resin Angels are absolutely beautiful as they are, but i found that I wanted them to stand out a bit more and give them a little more definition so we could see all the beautiful detail on them.

It was really quick and easy and this was the result...

So here is what I did... I laid my angel on a piee of kitchen towel, and liberally spritzed the resin with a dark brown mist. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Tattered Leather.

Then I gently dabbed the excess mist off the raised pieces of the angel with another piece of kitchen towel, leaving the colour to sit in the creases and grooves of the design. I left it to dry before attaching it to my page!

Adding Dimension and Customizing Bling Color by Carla Marchee

Design Team member Carla Marchee is back today with some tips for adding dimension and interest to your layouts and also for customizing the color of your bling.

Here's Carla...

Hi there I will tell what I have done with this design from the Album Kit:

I got this Christmas tree cut out for more definition- to see how I have done this effect, see the step by step pictures:

STEP 1
* Cutting there

STEP 2
* Place there a cardstock for higher up

STEP 3
* put the layer on the lower layer

STEP 4
* And so is the effect

I hope you like this layout and it helps you to make your own 3D.

----------

What I have done with this design in the corners and the swirl bling:

First I have sprayed with glue, and added sparkles with distress embossing powder for a snow effect.

And the swirl I wanted to give this a another color so I have used red Alcohol Ink

Thank you for watching how I did it
