Fall Flower Tutorial by Carla Marchee

Design Team member Carla Marchee is sharing a step by step tutorial for creating the handmade flowers that she used on her November Main kit layouts.

Here's Carla...

Hi i want to share with you a beautiful fall flower that i have made on this page, and I will tell how I did this.

And this page

Here are close ups

Now here is the Fun tutorial

STEP 1 Punch 8 petals for one layer and the rest next layer will have remaining 7 petals and for the next layers also 7 petals. So all together punch out 22 petals for one flower!

STEP 2 Spread the flower petals apart and spray with glimmermist.

STEP 3 While the petals are still very slightly damp, twist the petals, then slightly unravel. You should have ripples in the petals.  Then dry it further with the heatgun.

STEP 3 When it's dry tip with glimmer glam on the petals

STEP 4 Punch a circle

STEP 5 For the bottom layer, glue 8 petals together as shown with the folded tip on the outside of the flower.

STEP 6 The next layer will have the remaining 7 petals just the smaller

STEP 7 I used 7 smaller flowers for the middle.

STEP 8 The last step is create a wad for in the center of the flower

This was my fun flower I hope you give this a try.

Adding Realistic Leaves to Your Layouts with Lou Collins

Design Team member Lou Collins is showing how she turned fussy-cut leaves into dimensional embellishments!

Here's Lou...

To make these realistic leaves on my {M} layout, I cut the small leaves from the edges of some of the Prima Tea Thyme papers using some small scissors.

Next I inked the edges with a brown ink and foam applicator.

To give them depth, I fold each one upwards in half along the centre vein line.

Finally, when I stick them down, I try to cluster a few together peeking out from something, and only glue them down along the center fold so that the leaf can be lifted upwards.

Tips for Planning Out Kit Usage with Kris Berc

Hi everyone, hope you had a great weekend!  It's Kris Berc with you today to share how I plan out my use of the kits each month.

I used to spend soooo much time being afraid to cut into any of the beautiful products that Pam's kits include, for fear that I would use something with one photo and then later decide that it would have been better suited for use with a different photo. The perfectionist trait in me would let me sit there for the longest time obsessing over where to start, so I made myself come up with a way to be more efficient and focused.

The little system that I've come up with is very helpful for me, and I thought I'd share it in case it might also help those of you who experience difficulty with where to start.

First, I decide how many projects I'd like to make with the kit. In this case, I knew that I wanted to make 4 layouts. So, I printed 4 sets of photos and laid them on the table.

Next, I pulled out all of the papers in the kit and matched them up to the 4 sets of photos, putting them into piles as I decided which to use with which.

Once the papers are sorted, I open the embellishment packages one at a time, and match them up with the photos in a similar way to how I matched up the papers. I powder the stickers to remove the adhesive and add them to the decided upon pile.

In the photo below, you can see the 4 piles of kit products that I matched up with my 4 sets of photos. The 2 smaller piles on the far left and far right are leftovers that I kind of bundle together with the idea of using them for a card or two at the end.

So, now that I'm ready to create, I set aside all but 1 of the piles so that I can devote my focus to that 1 project.

Here's one of the piles:

And here's another:

As I finish each project, I divide the leftover paper scraps up among the remaining project piles, because I do love to layer those papers on :)

I have to say that I don't always stick 100% to my piles, so as you see my projects with this kit in the gallery this month, you may notice that I've changed my mind on a paper or embellie or two, but for the most part I stick to my plan.

Hope this is helpful!

Mixed Media Tutorial with Kaori Fujimoto

Design Team member Kaori Fujimoto is making her My Creative Scrapbook Mixed Media team debut today with a stunning work of art!

Have a look at Kaori's awesome design:

Here's Kaori to tell us how she made her wonderful bricks!

1. Draw rectangles on a piece of paper and cut out using a knife.

2. Apply modeling paste on the template.

3. Remove template and tap rectangles to make the modeling paste three dimensional.

4.When dry, apply brown ink and cut out the brick tips.

In this way (by making brick chips), we can decorate the bricks as much as we want and move them around to whatever location we like best.

Have a wonderfully creative weekend!

The My Creative Scrapbook Site is being updated. We will be back as soon as possible....:)

Handmade Tag Embellishments by Izzy Anderson

Hello everyone! Today Design Team member Izzy Anderson is showing how she made her cute tag embellishments.

Here's Izzy...

This is how I made the patterned paper tags that are tucked under my photo:

I started by using a standard manilla shipping tag as a pattern. The patterned paper tags don't need to be too long because I will be tucking them into my layout and the bottom won't show.

After cutting the patterned paper tags, I like to define the edges by either inking them or stitching them or both.

After lightly inking, I stitched around each tag and added a ribbon at the top.

Now, I have my tag base and am ready to tuck them under my photo to decide how I like them and how much to embellish them. I slighly overlapped the blue tag onto the red tag then added a word sticker from the kit on each tag. On the blue tag, I also added a small flower on the far right.

This was an easy way to add a pop of color to my page and to draw attention to the focal photo.
