Two Flower Techniques with Luzma

Hello and happy Thursday!  Today design team member Luzma is sharing two wonderful flower techniques for us to try!

Here's Luzma to tell you about them...

How I made the flower on "They Feel Free" layout:

I cut 3 circles with a scallop punch.

 I added water.

I wrinkled them many many times.

I divided them into 6 circles.

Then I made a hole in the middle and put in a brad.

I assembled the flower.

And here it is, a beautiful flower.

Another thing I do to have more big flowers...

I divided the two Prima flowers into four flowers.

And then I added two small Prima flowers to the big petals.

Hope you'll give these a try!

Trim Altering Technique with Carla

Happy Monday!  Design team member Carla is sharing a clever technique today for altering the color of the trim in the May Limited Edition kit to match the denim color of the jeans in her photograph.

Here's Carla with how she did it...

1. Put the ribbon in a plastic bag, put in gesso, and wrinkle so that it is well-mixed... and another advantage is you do not get dirty hands... LOL

2. Then dry it with a heat gun.

It's easy but you get a great result!
Try it!

Beauty and Texture Technique with Delaina

Hello My Creative Scrapbook friends!  Today design team member Delaina is sharing a really fun technique for adding beauty and texture to your layouts.

Have a look at her wonderful butterfly...

Here's Delaina with how she did it...

Supplies Needed:
Mask or Template
Modeling Paste
Ink

{I used a Butterfly template but you can create your own template using a punch or die cut machine with heavy cardstock.}

Directions:

1. Add a thin layer of modeling paste over the template and let dry completely (a fan on low or heat tool makes it quicker).

2. Add ink. I used a Pink Colorbox Ink pad all over the image and a Dark Brown color over a few areas to highlight.

3. Position Stencil back over the Butterfly add a little thicker layer of Modeling Paste concentrating on the areas that you added the dark Brown Color Ink.

Give it a try... we'd love to see what you create!

Shell Carmen

Hi There! I'm Shell Carman, Mum to 3 kids: Hunter 6, Kayla, 3 & Evie 1.
I married my highschool sweetheart Craig in Fiji 7 years ago.

I am completely addicted to Scrapping! I love doing it, I love talking about it & I love shopping for it LOL! My style is an eclectic Shabby Chic mix. Sometimes I like it to be clean & straight lines & sometimes really distressed. All my pages have lot's of layers & embellies. My favourite part of scrapping is using lot's of pretties on my page especially flowers.
I started scrapping to preserve our memories. I still like to do this but I think now I scrap more for the creative outlet & the chance to chat & make new friends! Scrapping has given me a chance to 'meet' people from all around the world.
I am a huge fan of sketches! I find sketches so helpful to get me started. I am so excited to be part of the MCS Design Team!

Izzy Anderson

Hi! I’m Izzy Anderson and I’m a Southern girl from North Carolina. I’m a momma to an active 3-year-old boy and started scrapbooking just before he was born as a way to document his life and ours together. I grew up in a creative family and I’ve had various hobbies over the years but none have ever grabbed me the way paper crafting has. Lately, I’ve really taken a shine to card-making, but layouts will always be my first love. I’ve been a guest designer for Echo Park Paper and Little Yellow Bicycle and have been so fortunate to be published in my favorite magazines: Scrapbooks Etc, Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, CARDS and Paper Crafts. I am super excited to join the team here and to be part of this community.

We are also happy to announce a few GUEST Designers that shared their amazing talent with us this month...

Trudi Harrison - Guest DT

I am Trudi Harrison from Victoria, Australia. I am pretty much a 'country' girl at heart who very much likes her modern conveniences. I live in a small country town an hour out from the city of Melbourne with my 2 girls, husband and 2 'fur' boys. Presently I am a SAHM majoring in 'domesticated engineering'.

Over time there have been many hobbies which I have enjoyed. I adore all things beautiful and creative. Without a doubt though, Paper Crafting has become the one for which I am truly passionate about. This passion has indeed burned brightly for the last 6 years. 'Officially' I have been paper crafting since the birth of my first daughter in 2004. Though I have to also say that from a somewhat younger, I always enjoyed recording family holidays and events in a diary and of course these had to be decorated.

I would say that I am perhaps not 'locked' into a specific scrapping style. At times it can be a touch feminine and perhaps quite structured with lots of layering, paper cutting, dimension and detail.

My work will often feature my children, so my inspiration will come from the little things that they will say and do. Inspiration will also come from the product or the photos that I am working with.

I absolutely adore chipboard, floral patterns and blooms and find much enjoyment combining these with my other love of patterned paper.

My preferred genre is 12 x 12 layouts but I will also find enjoyment in creating other projects - particularly altered and home decor items and cards.

Mona Pendleton - Guest DT

My name is Mona Pendleton, I live with my sweet husband, Scott, two teenage step children, Connor 16, Meredith 14 and two 5 year old Westies, Gretchen and Griffin in Phoenix, AZ. I have two college age young adult children as well, Jerry 24 and Angie 22. I work part-time as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of an Orthopedic Hospital and in my spare time, I find it enjoyable to use the other side of my brain, playing with paper crafting products creating various projects. I first started scrapbooking too long ago to remember when which spilled over into card making, creating home décor projects and gifts for family, friends and coworkers.
I love lots of layers, colors and find happiness in all the little details!

Mel Blackburn - Guest DT

Hi! My name is Melanie Blackburn and I’m from Ottawa, Ontario Canada, where I work full time by day and scrapbook at night after all the days chores are done and my girls are sleeping soundly.  I’m married to my very supportive and encouraging high school sweetheart, Dan and we have two daughters, Danika (7) and Brianna (3) who are the inspiration for my papercrafting.  We are also expecting our 3rd girl this summer, our life is blessed with little girls! I started scrapbooking in 2004 shortly after the birth of my oldest daughter.  I wanted to create a scrapbook album of her relatives, who knew that this little project would turn into so much bigger! I describe my style as "eclectic flair", I love to mix patterns, embellishments, and include fun accents on my layouts. It is an honor to be guest designing for Pamela and My Creative Scrapbook. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
