Mad for Plaid with Zelda!

Hi everyone, today I am sharing a layout I created using the October Creative kit Mad for Plaid by Photo Play Paper.

We recently took a family road trip to the valley to visit Dakeyne Farms, we brought a picnic lunch, flew some kites and wandered through the beautiful sunflower maze. It was such a wonderful day and we had lots of fun. I chose to scrapbook a picture of my daughter standing in a field of sunflowers and immediately I wanted to create my own sunflower. I sketched a sunflower onto plain printer paper. I then matted the picture with an ephemera frame and the torn edge of a paper bag placing my picture onto the sketch to the bottom right so I could mark around the picture where I wanted it to be placed on the sunflower.
I picked out the patterned papers for all the petals, leaves and the center of the sunflower.
On the sketched sunflower I numbered each petal and leaf as I was paper piercing and cutting them out. I did this so I would be able to glue them in the correct order on the background. For the center of the flower I used my cuttlebug and a scalloped circle die.

I was left with a pile of petals and leaves to be put together but not before I chain stitched around each one.

I glued the sunflower together on the burgundy patterned paper which I fussy cut all around leaving a burgundy bordered edge around the sunflower which stood out nicely on the cream cardstock background.
I placed the sunflower to the top left and added the picture to the bottom right. I decided to add a couple strips of paper on the left vertical edge of the layout. One strip I had used a scalloped border punch.
To the bottom right I added a smaller horizontal cluster of strips of paper, again using the same border punch. I added some stickers and the vellum title along with some nuvo drops all around to finish off the layout. Here is the finished layout and a couple of close ups.

Quilt Inspired Layout with Yvette!

Hi, My Creative Scrapbook fans! It's Yvette here, with a Quilt - Inspired layout. Here's the layout I created....

I choose a Quilt image I found on Pinterest, as my inspiration, and used it to create a string art background for this layout.

Step 1:  I started by using a large plate as a template to draw a circle.

Step 2:  Fussy cut the small triangles from patterned paper 24.

Step 3:  Using the circle as a guide, I glued the triangles in place by slightly overlapping each one, until the circle was completed.

Step 4:  Punched the holes using a paper piercer, one in the center of the circle and the others, along the inside area of the triangles were I have the arrows indicate in the photo above. Starting from the center for the circle with your floss/thread and then over to the opposite side. Continuing with this process until the entire inside of the circle is covered.

Step 5:  Create a second circle of fussy cut triangles, and repeat the same process from step 4.  Once this was finish I felt like something was missing, so I decided to add some back stitching around the perimeter before adhered it to the larger circle.

Step 6:  At this point I added my photo and title.

Once my title and photo were in place, I created a couple clusters of layered embellishments using the beautiful floral die cuts, as well as a few fussy cut pieces. Some of the embellishments were added with foam tape to create extra dimension.

A couple of close-ups.....

Truly Grateful by Monique!

Hello friends of My Creative Scrapbook! It's Monique here today sharing a step-by-step for one of the layouts I created with the October Main Kit. I think this kit is my favorite to date! It's filled with the awesome "Truly Grateful" collection from Paige Evans/Pink Paislee. I love how colorful this kit is!

A few weeks we had this furry sweetie joining our family and of course I only want to scrap her photos now. Here's what I made:

And here's how I created this page. I gathered all my supplies:

I used some templates from my stash (Technique Tuesday) to draw 6 different sized hearts and hand cut them:

I adhered the largest heart on my layout and machine stitched two times around it:

Next I glued the other hearts on top with just the minimum of adhesive, machine stitched right through the middle and folded the sides a little upwards:

I love that all the papers in this collection have two awesome sides! Before I stitched the hearts in place I had a hard time choosing which side should go up!
Next I decorated the inside of the top heart with words from the Truly Grateful cardstock sticker sheet:

After decorating the heart a bit more with some of the Truly Grateful puffy stickers I started on the photo of my puppy. I printed a square 10 cm x 10 cm photo of her and matted it on a piece of patterned paper. Both at the bottom and at the top of the photo I added a die-cut with a few puffy stickers:

In the right bottom corner of my layout I added a few more cardstock and puffy stickers and the date stamp:

On the right side of the hearts I added a few more die-cuts and puffy stickers and around the entire layout I drew a black line.

A few drops of ink and my page is done!

Thank you so much for visiting the MCS blog! I hope you have enjoyed my step-by-step.
