Dry Embossing with Marielle!

Hello everyone, Marielle here today to share a quick tutorial on dry embossing with a stencil.
The February main kit includes this great plastic Confetti stencil from Heidi Swapp.

I loved working with this wonderful kit !

This is my finished card. I love these shades of blues and purples !

Step 1
Place stencil over white cardstock and adhere stencil with tape.

Step 2
Flip the stencil and cardstock over on the cutting plate of your favorite die cutting machine.

Step 3
Using the correct embossing mat and plates for your machine, run through machine to emboss your piece of cardstock.

Step 4
Here's a look at the embossed piece. I love adding texture to my projects !

Step 5
I created a tag for my card using the embossed circles only.

Step 6
I punched out a few of the larger circles and fussy cut the small hearts from the papers in the kit.

The process of finding the perfect placement of embellishment is always a long one for me. I always step back a look at everything and make changes that pleases my eye.

Step 7
I machine stitched the hearts to the circles and added splats of white paint.

Step 8
To finish my card, I adhered a few flowers, sentiment, twine and chipboard foliage.

Thanks for visiting the blog today. I hope you can find a bit of creative time to try this dry embossing technique on your next project.
Happy crafting !
Marielle

BookMarks with Zelda!

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing  some cute bookmarks that I created using the adorable February Creative Kit, Loves Me Collection from Pebbles.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I designed some sweet bookmarks using this wonderful collection I thought these would make cute Valentine cards especially as I like to give my kids books on Valentine's Day.
Using the patterned papers and white cardstock  I cut  2”×7” rectangles and punched the shape of the tag and the hole at the top using a Stampin’ Up Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. If you don’t have a tag punch you could use a corner round punch and a hole punch or simply cut the corners off at an angle.

There was a red dye ink pad and clear chevron stamp included  in the monthly kit which were great to use for the back of the bookmarks. I stamped the white cardstock  using the red ink and chevron stamp, inked all around  the edges and adhered them together.
To embellish the bookmarks, I decided to make some origami hearts to hug them. And because they have a little pocket I was able to use some of the sweet tags and ephemera  tucked in the hearts. Lastly I used some DMC floss to make  tassels.
*To make the hearts cut a 4 ½” square piece of paper.
*Fold it in half and half again and open up.

*Fold the bottom of the paper up to the middle crease, and then quarter turn your paper and fold up the bottom corners to the middle creating a triangular edge.

*Quarter turn and bring the bottom center point to the top and fold, quarter turn again.
*Use your finger to make an opening in the middle and flatten to form a triangle, fold a triangle from the outer edge and a tiny triangle from peak. Repeat on other side.
*Turn over and fold the areas behind the heart.

And there you have your origami heart which can also be used as a bonus bookmark!

Building Layers with Yvette!

Hello My Creative Scrapbook Fans!  Yvette here and today it's all about building layers using cut files, patterned papers and embellishments.

You can find the Cloud background cut file here...

 Gather my supplies.....

I used this months fabulous sketch as my starting point for my layout...

For my first layer, I started by choosing the beautiful xoxo patterned paper as my background base. Next, I added the cloud background cut file, which was cut from white cardstock and was glue directly onto my pattern paper base, without backing any of the opening. I also added some of the cloud cut outs as another layer and adhered them with some foam strip for added dimension.

Next, I created some layers behind my photo using a few pieces of patterned papers from Pebbles 'Loves Me' collection.

Another way of adding layers to your page is to use the beautiful embellishments found in your kit each month, such as stickers and die cut pieces.
After my photo with it layers of pattern paper were glued down, I then use the embellishments to start building several layers behind it.

I arranged a few printed cardstock shapes and stickers on the right side of the photo, as well as one of the 3x3 cut apart card which I use as a title. Love all the dimension this creates :))))

Another layer of cardstock die cut pieces was added to the left side of the photo, as well as a stamped sentiment place onto a die-cut tag.

At this point, I decided to add another layer to page, with some of the fussy cut sentiments found on the Text patterned paper and place them around the layout.

I hope you felt inspired today and if you're not a subscriber yet, give it a try. The kits are all so beautiful and you will not regret it!!!!

Thanks for stopping by :) xx
