Merry Little Christmas with Monique!

Hello My Creative Scrapbooks fans, it's Monique here again sharing a project created with the fabulous December Creative Kit featuring one of my favorite Christmas colletions this year: "Cozy and Bright" from Pebbles Inc. I've made three layouts with this kit, so for this project I thought I'd create a set of Christmas cards. All Pebbles collections contain at least one sheet that's just perfect to create cards with. In this case it's the "Merry Little Christmas" paper. Here are the cards I made with it:

All with just this one sheet "Merry Little Christmas":

I started by cutting all the 3"x 4" cards apart:

Next I cut pieces of patterned paper just a little bit larger and glued the cards on top:

I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges:

For the card base I chose red and green cardstock and cut them a bit larger than these matted cards, but twice as wide and folded them in half to create a card base:

Most of the cards I adhered straight away to the cardstock base (using double sided adhesive tape), but in some cases I added one of the fun die-cuts first:

Other cards I embellished later, adding a die-cut or sticker, like here:

Some were so very cute, they needed no extra's:

And some could use a bit of glitter:

I was done in no time at all! and I really love the result:

As I always love to receive handmade cards, I thought it would be nice to send a few handmade cards as well. Hope you like them too!

Last but not least a photo of the December Creative Kit:

Documenting Memories with Yvette!

Hi My Creative Scrapbook friends! Yvette here with you today to share a layout using this months gorgeous main kit. This kit is perfect for documenting any of your holiday or winter memories and I decided to document this fun photo of my son, sledding!

I started by cutting out three squares from some white cardstock. The squares can be any size you choose to work with....larger or smaller....it's really depends on the size of your photo. My squares are all 4 1/2 inches.

I then drew another square onto the white cardstock, leaving a 1/4 inch edge and cut the inside square out to create a frame.

Here's a look at the frames created from the cardstock. ↴

Next, I selected one of the beautiful patterned paper in the Simple Stories 'Simple Vintage Christmas' collection and use it to create another square (9").  Once I was happy with the placement of the frames, I used my sewing machine to add some stitching around the outside of each of the white cardstock frames.

The white cardstock frames was then glued, to fit inside of the framed stitching.  I then adhered a piece of black cardstock (slightly larger than the pattern paper) to the back and use a scissors to create a scallop edge all around the perimeter and really love how this turn out!

I love the beautiful black & white text and plaid patterned papers in the 'Simple Vintage Christmas' collection and instead of using the boring white cardstock as my background I decided to use both the text and plaid paper to create a bit more interest and place them on an angle.

I used some of chipboard stickers from Echo Park as well as a few stickers from Simple Stories 'Simple Vintage Christmas' collection to create a cluster in the bottom right hand corner of the photo.

A cut file was use to create a title for my page.

....and here are a couple of close-ups...

To finish the layout off I added a few more chipboard accent stickers around the page.

I hope you felt inspired today and if you're not a subscriber yet, give it a try. The kits are all so beautiful and you will not regret it!!!!

Thanks for stopping by :) xx

Fringe Christmas Tree with Monique!

Hi fans of My Creative Scrapbook, it's Monique here again, sharing my monthly step-by-step! I'm a huge fan of Christmas kits and the MCS December Main Kit is absolutely stunning! It's filled with the Simple Vintage Christmas collection from Simple Stories. I decided to put my fringe scissors to good use and create a "fringe Christmas tree". Here's the layout I created:

Here's how I created did this page: for one of my other December layouts I had cut out the Christmas Tree (one of the free MCS December cut files) and for today's layout I used the left-over negative of the tree:

This is the cut file I used (which you can find HERE):

Next I just cut 10 strips of paper, 2" wide and using my fringe scissors I cut them for approx. three quarters:

To determine the order of the colors & designs of the tree, I placed them on top of the tree, changing them around until I was satisfied and only then I cut them to the right size:

I turned the white cardstock around and adhered the fringed strips to the back of the tree, starting at the top. I used both a bit of liquid glue and scotch tape to adhere them.

When I turned my white cardstock around again it looked like this:

I really love the fringed look of the tree!

I adhered the white cardstock on top of the red cardstock and as I love stitching on my layouts I used my sewing machine to stitch both around the layout as well as around the tree:

Now I just had to add my photo and embellish! The December Main kit contains many die-cuts, chipboards & stickers, so embellishing is easy! I also typed a few lines of journaling, cut them in strips and added them at the bottom of & below the tree.

This is it! Hope you like my page! Here's a photo of the kit I used for this page, the December Main kit:
