Apple Day with Zelda!

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing with you my layout  titled Apple Day using the fabulous November Creative Kit, Fall Break from Carta Bella Paper Collections.

I started with an old picture from 1985 of my husband and his friends from Scouts on apple day. I love the looks on their faces and how this picture looks like it could be used as an advertisement for Scouts Canada.

Right away I thought about creating a large apple for this layout. To create the apple, I first sketched out a simple design on a plain piece of cardstock.

Then I went through all the lovely fall papers in the kit to see which ones I wanted to use for the apple, leaf, and stem. Once I chose my papers I placed the sketched apple over the patterned paper holding them together with some washi tape to keep it in place. Using my hole piercing tool I then pierced holes about ¼” apart around the apple, then I repeated the same step for the leaf and stem while changing the patterned papers. For the stem I chose burgundy cardstock. The holes created an easy guide to cut around once they were punched.

The cream cardstock was trimmed to 11 ½” square, which was inked around the edges and then backed with a leaf paper from the kit. Then it was positioned so the pattern would appear to the top and left of the layout.

Now to stitch the apple! I must confess I have a very large collection of DMC floss and once I picked out the right shades to go with the paper I hand stitched around my design.

I backed my picture with green cardstock and a piece of patterned paper that I distressed and inked, then added a piece of burlap ribbon behind the picture to create some texture. To finish off the layout I placed a few stickers and chipboard pieces around the picture, added the title Apple Day from the thickers included in this months kit and some Mister Huey's color mist in real red.

I hope you like how this layout came together. Here are a couple close ups and the finished layout.

Circles with Yvette!

Hi My Creative Scrapbook friends! Yvette here today with a Pinterest inspired project using this month's Main Kit

I love the overall cool reco design and decided to use it as an inspiration to design my page.

STEVOTOMIC.COM

With all the gorgeous pattern paper found in the 'Along the Way' collection, it was very difficult to select which ones I wanted to use for my circles. I decided to go with one floral and two of the polkadots papers as well as a solid blue cardstock.

Next, I added some paint splatters to my background by select a few different Dylusions Ink Spray to match the colors in the floral pattern paper and applied with a small paint brush.

I arranged the circles along the right hand side of the page starting at top and working my way down to the bottom.

Keeping with the design, I added a couple of black cardstock strips down the center of my circles and love the extra detail this create.

Now it was time to start adding my embellishments. First, I matted my photo with one of the pattern paper found in this months main kit and adhered it down with some foam tape. Next, I created a small cluster of embellishments to the bottom left hand corner of the photo that includes a couple of 'Along the Way' Ephemera pieces as well as a die-cut.

Under the top edge of my photo I tucked an icon die-cut and a tag.

I added my title down the left hand side of my page using the beautiful gold foil chipboard stickers also include in this months main kit and finished the layout off with a couple more die-cut pieces.

I hope you felt inspired today and if you're not a subscriber yet, give it a try. The kits are all so beautiful and you will not regret it!!!!

Thanks for stopping by :) xx

Let's get cozy with Marielle!

Hello !My Creative Scrapbook friends,
Marielle here today sharing a Fall layout I created with the gorgeous October main kit featuring the Forever Fall collection from Simple Stories.

I have loved knitting since I was a teenager and this Summer I knitted a cozy blanket for my re designed den /man cave in our basement.

Let's Get Cozy by Marielle LeBlanc

Step 1
Using leftover yarn from my blanket, I knitted a 6"X 6 "square.
You could also add a piece of felt or fabric as a textured layer :)

Step 2

Adhere 3 to 4 layers of patterned papers from the kit. I used the dark "denim look" paper as my background.

Step 3

For added texture I stitched on a row of buttons to the striped paper. I think these were from Basic Grey... I used to be totally addicted to buttons !!)

Step 4

Adhere knitted sample over layers of patterned papers using your favorite adhesive.

Step 5

Machine stitch knitted piece into place ,if desired.

Step 6
Add matted photo,to the center of knitted piece and add tag and embellishments at the top of your photo.

and finally add tag/stickers/embellishments to lower right of photo. I also added splats of white paint to the dark background.

I do hope you've enjoyed today's tutorial :) I loved creating this project.
Here's a look at this beautiful kit from the store !
Hugs,
Marielle

Dream Catcher with Zelda!

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing with you my layout Fresh Start using the beautiful October Main Kit, Forever Fall from Simple Stories.
I started getting grey hairs in high school and have been continuously dyeing my hair ever since not only to cover up the grey but I also liked dyeing my hair in fun colours too. So the amount of time and product I have put into my hair I can only imagine lol. This picture is a recent selfie after coming home from the salon and finally deciding to give up dyeing my hair and to let my salt and pepper hair grow out naturally, which is why I chose the title Fresh Start.

When I went through all the beautiful papers and elements in this kit I decided to create a dream catcher incorporating the feathers and leaves.
I used an embroidery hoop and a pencil to lightly trace a semi circle around the patterned paper and positioned the dream catcher off the page to the right. I trimmed my white cardstock to 11 ½” square and distressed the edges. With the same paper as the dream catcher I also cut an L shape to use as a border to the left side and bottom of the layout.

Once I had my dream catcher glued down and had the feathers and leaves positioned I chose a blue shade of DMC floss that coordinates with the patterned paper, using my paper piercing tool I poked holes and stitched around the inside of the dream catcher and down the length of the feathers and leaves.
I backed my picture with a couple pieces of torn patterned paper added some ephemera and chipboard clusters and some word stickers. I used my We R Memory Keepers typewriter to type out Bye Bye Hair Dye, Hello Salt & Pepper and dated it from my last hair dye that I backed with tissue paper.

To finish off the layout I added some orange sequins to replicate the beads on a dream catcher and splattered some gold Heidi Swapp colour shine.
I hope you like how this layout came together.
