Traveler Notebook by Dorymar!

Hello Friends! It's Dorymar here, today and I'm sharing a beautiful Traveler’s Notebook. Last month I traveled to my country to offer a class and visit my family and friends and the best way to document those joyful moments is to make a traveler's book. I used the wonderful August Main Kit to do it.

To create my own traveler's notebook, I used 5 white cardstocks of 8 ¼ x 8¼ and one of 8 ½ x 8 ½ to make the cover.  All scored in half.

To give it a personal touch, before sewing, I used the stamps included in the kit to create my own backgrounds.

Then with my stitch happy I stitched all the pages in the center to form the notebook.

Since I have my notebook ready, it is time to decorate and document all the experiences of this trip!

Most of the pages were created using stamps from the kit.

I have combined some die cuts and stickers with stamps to create these pages.

I love placing a title on each page and this kit gives you many options to create it.

I love how versatile the kits are, and how easy they are to combine.

I love how this turned out! I invite you to create your own traveler's notebook!  Don’t forget stop by My Creative Scrapbook to check all the kits!

Happy scrapping!

Pool Hair Don't Care with Zelda!

Hi everyone, today I want to share with you an adorable summer layout that I created using the August Creative Kit.

My daughter has been taking swimming lessons and is now at level 3. I’m so proud of her. The result is she loves the water and has become a real little fish! I captured this cute picture of her on our first camping trip this summer and she would not leave the pool.

In the kit there is a 12x12” sheet of 4x6” cut aparts that has a card that said “pool hair don’t care”.  What a perfect title to go with this picture! To create the title I fussy cut around all the words.

There is a beautiful 12x12” floral paper in the kit this month as well that I decided to fussy cut out.

I had no plan for the layout, only that I wanted to use the title and I loved the flowers I cut out. It was then I decided to also use the August cut file.

I choose the circle floral which I cut out in white cardstock using my Cricut. To get the colours I wanted, I used my gelatos to colour the cut file and backed the flowers in pink cardstock and the leaves in green cardstock.

I placed my picture in the center with the cut file over it and then I layered some of the fussy cut flowers around the picture. I added my title in the top left in a staircase fashion and used more fussy cut flowers around the title as well as to the bottom right of my layout.

The water droplets were fussy cut from the paper that I had cut the title from. I used them to imitate splashing all around my picture.

The splatters of blue were made by applying some blue gelato onto my craft mat which I activated by using some water, I then used a paintbrush to splatter the colour around the layout.

I added a cluster to the bottom right of the picture of chipboard and stickers.

Finally, to finish the page, I used my sewing machine with a pale blue thread and stitched  ¾ of the way around the cut file 3 times then stitched a straight line through each word in the title. Here are a few closeups.

This layout is mostly all about fussy cutting I hope you like it!

Tips using Thickers with Monique!

Hello MCS friends! It's Monique here today sharing a layout I created with the August Main Kit and a fun tip for the Thickers that are included in this month's kit.

This is the page I created:

And this is the August Main kit I used. Loving the Bloom collection from Simple Stories and the few extra papers from Kaisercraft & American Crafts!

In the kit you can see the set of white Thickers I used for the title on my page. As my background is also white I didn't want the title to be white as well and decided to color them in colors matching my photo and the papers:

I used markers from Stampin'Up from my stash and they worked really well.

I colored the letters while leaving them on their original sheet, so I was sure I wouldn't accidentally color my background paper. I adhered them on my page after they had dried completely.

To decide where I wanted the title I used the Tickers guide from American Crafts. The papers and the photo were still lying "loose'' on my background page so I was able to move them around a bit before deciding where everything should go. I did however staple the papers together, which made the arranging/rearranging easier.

When I had decided where everything should go I adhered the papers, photo and title and embellished with bits and pieces from the kit.

Last but not least I added the machine stitching and some paint drops and I was done!

Don't you just love this kit?! At first I thought I would use this kit with all it's flower elements for photos of my daughter, but now I'm glad I used a photo of one of my sons as well, as it's just perfect!
