Tags with Aimee!

Hello friends! Aimee here with you to show a simple tag tutorial! I love adding tags to my layouts and cards so I wanted to share my thought process on creating some great tags.

For the first tag, I wanted to use that great Heidi Swapp Minc circular stencil that comes in the April creative kit. I have been on a kick of watching all of the great Jennifer McGuire YouTube videos...she is amazing when it comes to stamps, inks, and stencils!! I was completely wowed when I saw her "Rotating Stencils" video (click here to see) and knew I had to try it!

I pulled out my Distress Oxide ink pads in the colors of Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick and my Moonlight White pigment ink pad. I started off with a 4" x 6" piece of smooth white cardstock and followed Jennifer's instructions from the video. I used the darker color first and ended up with the white as the top layer. After the inks were dry I cut my paper into a tag.

Here is a look at the 3 tags bases before I added embellishments...

Here is a close up of the tag that I used the Rotating Stencil technique on. I used 2 strips of washi tape on the bottom but one of the pieces I cut in half length wise. The "choose joy" piece is from the ephemera pack that comes with the kit.

The next 2 tags were just pattern papers for the base tag and embellishments from the Creative kit.

And here are the projects that I used my tags on...

I hope this tutorial gets those creative juices flowing and gets you to creating some tags of your own using any one of the beautiful Spring themed from My Creative Scrapbook.

Fussy Cutting with Yvette!

Hello My Creative Scrapbook fans!  Yvette here, and today I am sharing a layout that all about fussy cutting. Fussy cutting is such a fun and relaxing technique, especially when you get to play with gorgeous florals and patterns like the ones in this month's main kit!

I started by gathering my suppliers.

The beautiful floral design on the Backyard Blooms and the Hello Spring patterned papers were perfect for this page. I had an idea to create two large clusters of flowers and started by fussy cutting all of floral images....always look for elements in your patterned papers that can be fussy cut to use as embellishments on your page.

Next, I cut my 5x7 photo into 1/2 inch strips. I then created a 10x10 base with some white cardstock and arrange the photo strips so as to fit inside the center and added some machine stitching around the edges.

I then matted the layout onto the wood panels patterned paper and love the contrast between the white and brown.  At this point I knew I wanted to incorporate some of the pink in the photo and did this by adding a piece of pink cardstock between the layout and the wood panels base.  I also added a couple strips of patterned paper across the bottom of the page which allowed me to balance the pink from the cardstock.

I created two clusters using the fussy cut flowers in opposite corners of the page, along with a few phases from the Simple Stories cardstock stickers and a die-cut from the Patio Party collection ephemera pack.

Here's a couple of close-ups....

I finished the layout off  by adding a few more fussy cut Dragonflies!

I hope I inspired you to go ahead and fussy cut some of the gorgeous patterned papers included in this month's kits and if you're not a subscriber as yet, give it a try.  All the kits are so beautiful, you will not regret it!!!

Thanks for stopping by :) xx

Grid Design by Madeline!

Grid designs are my go-to on various occasions. Sometimes I use them when I want an orderly display of multiple photos from an event. Other times I use a simple grid design when I'm in a time crunch, as the straight lines make assembling the page a breeze. With today's layout, a grid design is the perfect vehicle for embellishing with all of the fun and colorful die-cuts in My Creative Scrapbooks March main kit.

In the closeup below, I have set a simple scene with die-cuts, adding dimension by adhering some of the pieces flat, while layering and popping up others. A cardstock "frame" ties it all together.

To begin this page, I gathered cardstock in colors to coordinate with the kit's patterned papers and embellishments from Pebbles' Patio Party. The top left square was sized to frame my photo, the middle right rectangle to accommodate my title (a banner cut from one of the patterned papers), and the long piece at the bottom to hold journaling. Additional pieces were cut to "fill in the holes" and complete the grid.

Here are the six components of my grid design, set on a white cardstock background. Already these colors are making me happy!

Once I added my photo and title banner, I cut white cardstock bases to hold the die-cut scene planned for the top, and the journaling planned for the bottom. Patterned paper fills the remaining grid.

Then out come the die-cuts and dimensional flowers, creating the scenes below. Hmmm...I think it calls for more die-cuts!

So more die-cuts it is!

At this point, owing to my indecisive nature, nothing is permanently attached. A strong breeze could blow it all away! But now that I'm content with the look,

I can finally print my journaling and adhere all these little bits and pieces.

A double cardstock border was also added, and it frames the entire page nicely. I simply cut down the white background by about 1/2 inch on each side, adhered to yellow cardstock, cut down the yellow cardstock by 1/4 inch on each side, and adhered to pink cardstock.

That frame makes all the difference!

Can you see how this design can be transformed to fit a photo in another shape or size? Or more than one photo? That's the versatility of a grid. :)

Dorymar Perez Lopez

My name is Dorymar PĂ©rez, I am from "La Bella Isla del Encanto”, Puerto Rico! and I live in Connecticut three years ago. I have 2 beautiful young girls, Adriana and Andrea, and have been happily married to the love of my life for 15 years, Eddie.
Since I was a child, my favorite hobbies were drawing and making crafts. I discovered the wonderful world of scrapbooking 10 years ago; my husband invited a friend who hosted a scrapbook party at my house and fell in love with it instantly! Since that day, I can't stop designing and creating! I love to design very detailed projects, with many interactive elements. I always try to use all the items from a collection and I love to create 3D projects with lots of dimension, mini albums, layouts, mixed media projects, cards, etc.

Scrapbook Room Feature with Tracy!

Hello crafty friends, Tracy here with a little craft room fun.
There is something to the Spring Cleaning saying, every year around this time I get the urge to clean, purge and organize my craft room. I thought I would share a few tips and tricks that I use to stay organized and efficient in my crafty area.
This is a shot of most of my craft room, taken a while back while it was in a very clean state. Since the photo I have added a few things, but overall is functioning much the same way.
Craftroom1
First of all I thought I would share a little bit of the space that is right in front of my main work space. I like to have everything that I craft with on a regular basis within arms length for easy access. This is my basket of adhesives that I use all the time. The narrow little dollar store basket keeps everything tidy and out of the way.

I have 4 sections of wooden shelving to the right of my main working space where I keep my ever evolving collection of inks, sprays and mediums. In the photo are just some of my inks. I like to have them all together, visible and easy to grab.

The next photo is a collage of images from pages in my ink book. This book is organized in colours, that way I can take a sheet of patterned paper or a photo and match ink colours easily.
Ink Book Collage
Lastly, is my collection of random cardstock in 12x12 and 8.5x11. I've been crafting a long time, and over that time you just seem to collect cardstock. From packs, collections and the colours you pick up as single sheets. I have another chunk of cardstock next to my work space where I keep the bulk of my neutral colours, the ones I use the most often.
