Tracy McLennon

Hello, my name is Tracy McLennon and I live my crafty life on the east coast of Canada in Nova Scotia. My world consists of my talented band teacher husband, my 2 beautiful step daughters and our crazy rescue pooch Kya. I have been a scrapbooker for about 17 years now, I adore papercrafting! I would say my scrapbook style would be clean, classic and layered. Currently I design for May Arts Ribbon, DecoArt and I am the new DIY Crafting Bride columnist for DIY Wedding Magazine.

Melissa Phillips

Melissa was born and raised in American Fork, UT. After graduating from Brigham Young University, she and her husband moved to Southern Nevada where they currently live with their little girl. After the birth of her daughter, Melissa wanted to make handmade Thank You notes to send out and became hooked immediately on card making. It all spiraled from there and has become a wonderful and rewarding part of Melissa’s life. “I love creating things for other people, and I enjoy the process of working with my hands to turn ordinary paper into something heartfelt. My loves are card making and altering anything that sparks my interest. I enjoy every minute of it and I love to share my creations with those I love.”

Lynn Lefebvre

Hi everyone! My name is Lynn and I live in a small town in Northern Ontario Canada. I am married to the love of my life and we have two girls and two Siamese cats. I discovered the wonderful world of scrapbooking about 12 years ago and like most of you, I am totally addicted! I cannot imagine my life without doing something creative.

I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer this month at My Creative Scrapbook. This kit was a joy to work with and I am so grateful for all the ladies at MCS for inviting me to be part of the team this month.

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Brenda Cazes

Brenda Cazes is featuring our April Main Kit today with a step by step layout tutorial!

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to show you how I created this layout.

I started with a piece of black cardstock and using a white gel pen, I freehanded a border on three sides of the paper. I didn’t do the right hand side because I knew I was going to cover it up.

Next, I drew different sized circles over the doodled lines.

I then added a 1” strip to the right hand side.

Then, using one of the barcode strips, I cut it down to about 8” and added it over the strip I just added.

Cut a 4” x 9” piece from the pink grid paper and a 1 ½ “ x 8 ¼ “ piece of the triangle paper and glue it to the right hand side of the pink paper.

Next, I cut two 1” x 7.5” strips of the black striped paper. By just using strips, you save on paper!

Glue the strips to the pink grid paper.

Glue these pieces to the left side of your black cardstock.

Add one of the journaling squares and tuck it under the piece that was just added.

I then journaled on one of the diecuts and added it to the journaling square.

I trimmed my photos down to fit the frames and glued them to the frames.

Glue the framed photos to the pink grid paper.

Next, I added the title and some of the other embellishments included in the kit. I cut out two of the rectangles from one of the patterned papers and tucked them at the top under the strip on the right hand side. Then, using my sewing machine, I did a zig-zag stich over the red strip.

You might have noticed the yellow strip on the right hand side isn’t it any of my photos. It wasn’t until I finished my second layout and placed it beside this one that I noticed it wasn’t 12x12”. Apparently, the black cardstock I used wasn’t a full piece! So I used another one of the barcode strips and glued it to the right hand side and stitched it to keep it in place. Here’s the finished layout.

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Sandi Clarkson

Hello, My Creative Scrapbook fans! Thanks for stopping by! Sandi here with you today sharing how I put my "You & Me" page together using the gorgeous April Limited Edition Kit. Every month seems to be a new fave Kit for me but this one had all my favorite colors, so I was really in scrappy heaven!

I wanted to use Marion Smith's Junque Gypsy "Nota Bene" paper in a  unique way, so I decided to rotate the paper and pair it with some of Prima Bella Rouge "Les Rosas" paper.  This was step one. 

Then I took a remaining portion of the "Les Rosas" paper and turned it over to show the beautiful red roses. Using teal and red always makes me happy as it's a favorite color combo. I thought it would work beautifully with the "Nota Bene" paper to accent those flowers.  Some punching along the edges of the red paper helped add a shabby, romantic touch. 

Next I prepped my paper with Clear Gesso on both side of the paper, then added some texture with a Donna Downey stencil and molding paste from my stash.  I also added splashes and droplets of color using my Prima Bloom Sprays in Light Teal and Tea Stain. 

Then the layering fun begins with some of the Prima Bella Rouge note cards and Marion Smith's Romance Novel Chapter 2 papers as well as some white doily die cuts created with a Prima die from my stash. 

Here it is after I've layered and added my Prima florals, Bella Rouge brads and butterflies cut from the section of the Junque Gypsy paper that I didn't use. You know this is a great Kit when you open it and find some of your favorite flowers in there! Yes! 

Here is a little close-up showing where I've tucked gauze here and there for texture. And the Bella Rouge brads are just gorgeous. 

Another close-up where you can see some of the misting. 

And here again is the finished layout. A sweet grandson kissing his baby sister. What could be better than that?
