Scrap Space Tour with Kristin Greenwood

Kristin Greenwood is taking us on a tour of her awesome scrap room today!

I am going to share some pictures of my scrapbook room!!  My room is in the basement, I have half and the other half is for my son (he has his shrine to Minecraft and it is where he gets to play the game!).

The lighting is not the best, with only three windows I did the best I could taking pics!

My handy husband made me my table!  It has a large working space and the "legs" of the table is where I store my paper!

I store my paper by brand, each line of paper is in a clear bag.

On my desk I have my pens...

I have these containers (I purchased at Michaels), each container has smaller containers.  Perfect for smaller items like wood veneers, paper clips, and die cuts...

.

I also keep the basic supplies...cutter, scissors, adhesive, etc. 

On this wall my hubby added a shelf for me to display mini albums (these are the ones that actually have photos in them)!  He used a pvc pipe and shower hooks to make me someplace to hang items, I mostly just have stickers here (I recently purged my stickers, all those empty hooks used to be full)!

The ledge below that is photo boxes full of different items...extra adhesive, tags, journal spots, mixed media paper, project life,etc.

A close up of my project life, no real organization here.  Just stick them in the box as I buy them!

The other wall behind my desk also has the ledge, but the cubed shelves (I got from Lowes) fit perfectly under it!

I can not get a picture of it, but the line the entire length of the wall.

Each cube contains different stuff.  I am sharing a few pictures...

The ledge behind has projects I have made and a few my little boy made :)

I teach classes at my LSS and when we sold out of our K&Co Smash Books, I got to keep the display!

Here I keep flowers and stickers!

The last picture I am going to share is a shoe rack (purchased at WaMart) that I transformed to display the rest of my flowers!

Step by Step Shadowbox Tutorial by Nicole Doiron

For my tutorial this month, I've decided to show you a step by step tutorial

on how I created my I Am shadowbox frame using the March Main kit.

The frame was a plastic one that I bought at my local Dollar store

from which I removed the glass, the total frame opening measuring 9 1/2" x 7 1/2".

I kept the white "passe-partout" as my base.

I cut my background paper 9" x 7" and distressed the edges.

I then stuck the paper on to the 'passe-partout'.

I made a tag out of some different pattern paper by simple using

a tag I already had in my stash as a template.

I added in a golden eyelet to go along with the I Am... collection.

Then, I cut out the designs that I wanted to include in the frame,

rounding the corners with my corner punch. 

I used 3D foam dots on the back of these pieces in order to create a layered effect in my frame.

I overlayed and centered them onto my base. 

I added a bow on the tag with the beautiful coral-colored ribbon included in the kit.

Now time to decorate my project and add on some embellishments,

starting with some flowers!

I then decided to fussy cut this butterfly off the patterned paper.

I added the butterfly and some doily punched borders.

I then add fun with some leftover chipboard pieces (flags, circles),

painted them metallic black and added them on.

Next, I wanted to add a nice center on each flower so I punched some daisy shapes out of shiny gold paper from my stash to match with the papers.

I added some brads also from my stash.

My frame base was almost finished.

The only thing left to do was to dab on some white acrylic paint

in order to soften it up a little, as I normally do on most of my projects.

It was then ready to go back into the frame.

And there you have it...

How to Create Banners Using Stickers by Becky Litz

Becky Litz is featuring our March Creative Kit today with a banner tutorial!

Hello Friends!

Becky here with you today to share how used the bunting stickers in the March Creative Kit to make the sweet little banners on my double page layout.

I love stickers but sometimes I find them a bit too flat and I want to add some more dimension to my layout.

I started by attaching all of the little flag stickers to some white paper scraps I had laying around.

 Next I cut out around the sides of the flags but leave a tab of white paper at the top of each.

 I fold that white paper tab over on each flag and use a glue dot to glue each flag over a piece of twine.

Here is my finished banner. I trimmed the extra twine from each end, but sometimes I leave it. It just depends on the look you are going for.

Finally I use another glue dot on just the first and last flag and attach it to my layout. All of the flags in the middle are just floating so it has a more natural look and drape to it.

There you have it! A quick and easy way to give a bit more dimension to your layout when using stickers.
