Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Guest Designer Jenny Evans

My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Jenny Evans has prepared a step by step a tutorial featuring our May Main Kit!

Here's Jenny:

Hi everyone!!

Today we are going to go through the basic steps that I take when putting together a layout. Today's layout is named: We Do Love. I got the idea for the title from one of the journaling cards that came in the kit. You know, the 12x12 sheet full of project life type cards. Yep, one of those. I actually really love cutting those up and using them as titles, or adding layers to my projects.

Okay, Here is what the layout will look like when completely finished:

So, my first step, which is a pretty big step, is to completely plan my layout, and do my layout, WITHOUT adhering anything down.

As you can see from the photo below, I have already pulled papers, embellishments, stickers, etc. I have already cut my papers to the size I want, and pulled lots of extra embellishments, as I am never too sure as to how I will finish off a layout.

My next step is to do the background. I adhere whatever I have for the background down, and add any stitching that I have pre-planned in my head.

My next step is to adhere all my main layering pieces. For this layout, that includes the photo area and the title area. After I have adhered these big pieces down, I go ahead and add any stitching I plan to do.

And, my final step, which is usually the most fun, I add in the embellishings, journaling (if applicable) and the title. I love adhering embellishings and title pieces with paper clips, or stitching or staples or any other way that adds some dimension.

Here is the final layout, again, and some detailed photos:

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Guest Designer Lindy Gillespie

My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Lindy Gillespie is up today with a layout tutorial featuring our May Limited Edition Kit!

Here's Lindy:

>>><<<

Step 1.

- Using the Prima Princess "Sophia"
- Taking any of your masks, I used the Prima checker- spray lightly in the four corner.

Step 2.

- Then turn your mask over and let the residue of the mist spread over the page.
- I decided that it the mist a bit pale so added some darker pink.
- Allow to dry completely or speed things up with a heat gun.

Step 3:

-  I glued  some scraps of the Princess collection onto the left hand side.
- Gave it a little spray with some blue mist.
Lift the top of your layout and let the mist drip.
- Dry off with a heat gun.

Step 4:

- At this stage I always do the background stamping.
- In the Kit is a little Prima stamp, with some black ink only ink a some section then stamp
in irregular spots.
- I also used a diamond shape stamp but use any in your stash.
- On the border use any stamp to highlight the edges.
- Grab a  script stamp and some pink ink,I stamped at the top but only stamping a small area.
- Cut 2 pieces of paper 12x2 inches.Place them at the bottom of the layout.
-Add all the embellishments title and journaling.

My layout.

Detailing Tips by Joan Bronson

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Joan Bronson is up today with a tutorial featuring our May Creative Kit!

Here's Joan:

Hi Fellow MCS Croppers,
Today I wanted to share some very easy tips on adding details to your layouts. Just grab your journaling pens and start detailing! First, let me show you my family layout before I added some extra embellishments and details.
Now, let me show you how I fancied up this layout. First, I backed some of my pattern paper with cardstock. That helps make each layer more distinct. Then, I grabbed my black journaling pen and started outlining the paper.
Next, I cut out some pattern paper to add more details to the page. Again, I outlined all my flowers to make help them really stand out. I also took the vellum flowers apart, outlined them, and put them back together.
Now check out the final layout.
Here are a few more examples where I added some simple details by just using my journaling pen.
Here is the final layout.
In this layout I just traced around the overlay to make it pop a little more. Then popped it up.
