Fun Ideas for Using Wood Veneer Embellishments by Mary Ann Jenkins

Hello everyone!  Today Mary Ann Jenkins is featuring our June Main Kit with some fun embellishment ideas!

Here's Mary Ann:

>>><<<

Hi friends! I have a new layout to share, and some ideas for adding wood veneer pieces to your projects.  First up, the layout...

As you can see, I added the ice cream cone veneer piece right in with the chipboard ice cream and the fussy cut paper ice cream cone too. They look so cute layered together!

And here's a few more creative ideas on embellishing the wood veneer pieces from the kit...

The veneer pieces in this months kit are such great embellishments to add to your layouts and cards for a bit of extra dimension without being too bulky.

Thanks for stopping by the My Creative Scrapbook blog today, we love to share our projects with you!

Scrap Space Saturday with Sandi Clarkson

It has been awhile since we've had a Scrap Space Saturday post for you, so we're switching things up today with some scrap space organizational tips from Sandi Clarkson!

Here's Sandi:

>>><<<

Hello, everybody! Sandi here with you today sharing a quick organizational project that I did shortly before our June Kit Reveal.

My stencils and masks were in a bit of a mess! They were mostly in drawers but some were hanging on hooks and everything was bursting at the seams. With more stencils coming in the mail, I decided that I had to stop and take time to organize them better.

So, I pulled out an old post bound scrapbook album that was given to me. Since I use strap hinge and D-ring (and plastic bins), this was just sitting around not being utilized. I thought it might make a nice home for my 12x12 stencils!

So, I pulled my stencils out of their packing and trimmed the packing down to 12x12. Then I slid the packaging into the page protector and placed the stencil in front of that. I considered using all matching card stock as a backing but thought I'd function better using the manufacturer packing since I was accustomed to seeing it that way.

On the back of the packaging I wrote the name of the stencil ... if I still remembered it or it was labelled already.

I kept moving along trimming and placing everything so that all the like manufacturers were grouped together. Since Prima often labels by product number, that part of the packing was important to me.  You can see that the stencils do stick out a bit at the top since they are longer in height than 12 inches.

Some stencils were more difficult to insert and I found that standing the album upward helped me get all the detail within the page protector with less effort.

I'm sharing this close-up to show you why you need to wash your stencils right away after using molding paste or gesso.  Yes, it stays on the stencil and they look yucky as well as not being as functional.  This was a favorite, too!

After doing 27 of these, I was done  with all my 12x12 stencils and masks.  Of course, I left some extra page protectors empty for my ever-growing collection! Now, only time will tell how well this system works! But at least it looks a bit more tidy for right now.

Now … I have to figure out what to do with my 6x6s. For now, they went back in the drawer!

Thanks for coming by today!

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Jodi Wilton

Hello and Happy Friday!
To kick off the weekend, Jodi Wilton is featuring our June Main Kit in a step by step layout tutorial!

Here's Jodi:

>>><<<

Hi everyone! Jodi here today to share with a fun step by step layout that I created using the FUN Main Kit for this month! I was inspired by the fun popsicles on the patterned paper, and thought it would be easy to replicate! Here is how I started my layout:

Step One: I cut a 12 X 2 piece out of the ice cream/popsicle paper. I then cut a straight line from one corner to the opposite corner, to create two triangles that were 12 inches long.

Step Two: I cut the 12 inch strip of popsicles (my inspiration!) but I knew I was creating my layout on a slight angle, so I cut the paper, four popsicles from the right hand side

Step Three: I adhered the pieces from step one and step two to my white cardstock sheet (as you can see there is a slight gap in the popsicle strip)

Step Four:  Add the Sticker (using foam tape) to cover the gap on the popsicle strip:

Step Five: Cut a 1/2 X 12 inch from the pink paper. Cut this piece again at approximately  2 1/2 inches from the left hand side.  Adhere to the top of the layout, cutting off the edges that hang over the white sheet of cardstock:

Step Six: Cut a 4 1/2 by 12 inch piece of paper from the spotted patterned paper. Cut this piece again at 3 inches from the left side. Adhere to your layout, and cut off any edges that hang over your white cardstock.

Step Seven: Cut a piece 2 1/2 X4 from the teal patterned paper (this is your popsicle base); Cut two pieces from the darker teal colour: 3/4 X 3 1/2.

Step Eight & Nine: Use a larger corner rounder for the larger piece and smaller corner rounder for the smaller two pieces.

Step Ten: Cut a small piece from the tan patterned paper for the stick: 1/2 X 3. Use the small corner rounder for one end. Piece together as shown, and pop up using foam tape the two darker teal pieces.

Step Eleven: Add the flower and brad to the popsicle and adhere to the layout in the big gap.

Step Twelve: Add all other embellishments to your layout:
  • Flower Brad over the small gap in the pink strip of paper at the top.
  • Title using the alpha stickers in the kit
  • Pop up the Simply Delicious Sticker and place next to the title
  • Add small photo corner stickers at the top right corner, and bottom left corner (use foam tape to pop up)
  • Add Wood Veneer SUN FUN at the bottom of the second photo
  • Add chipboard Popsicle next to the Let's Have A Great Summer Sticker

Hope you enjoyed the FUN tutorial this month and I hope you are enjoying your summer and your June Kits!

Project Life Style with our Main Kit by Lydell Quin

Lydell Quin has some fab project life style June Main Kit inspiration for you today!
Here's Lydell:

>>><<<

Hi there, Lydell with you today sharing the projects I created with the June Main Kit.

This month I was a bit behind with some weekly recording in my Project Life Album, so I tried to make all my projects be able to showcase my photos of the past few weeks.

I found this months kit to be perfect for this, and I used many of the stickers and chipboard embellishments on my projects, they actually made creating very easy!

So my project this month are created to sit beside each other in the album, so essentially double spreads.

Project 1  Photos from Week 3 (Playing catch up!)

I cut up lots of the cards on the reverse side of some patterned paper in the kit,  for these projects.

Project 2 Week 18

This one I decided to change up the traditional Project Life Pocket Page Style, and just created Layouts which could hold several Photos, and designed them with a little less clutter.  I Love how this turned out, and will include more of these in my album, especially when my week is not photo heavy!

Project 3- Week 17

Back to a more traditional Project life feel with this one, although side B below, is the reverse side of the regular Layout above, so needed to be created on a full 12x12 sheet of cardstock to fit in a normal page protector.  It worked just fine.  Pocket pages are not neccessary in every Project life Spread.
 Good to keep in mind!

So thats it from me today, will see you again soon.
Thanks for stopping in today!

A Summer Mini Album by Guest Designer Jennifer Gallacher

We're back with more June Main Kit inspiration for you today!

My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Jennifer Gallacher is sharing how she designed her adorable mini album:

Here's Jennifer:

>>><<<

 1. Cut several 5" x 6" rectangles from the patterned paper in the kit.

2. Use a manual die cut machine and a large label die cut to cut four different patterned paper sheets.

3. Layer papers (making sure papers are facing up) and machine stitch down the left side of the stacks of paper. This will form the mini album. The album easily opens at the stitched fold.

4. Decorate the album with photos and embellishments from the kit.

A big thanks to Jennifer for guest designing with us this month.
