Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Guest Designer Stephanie Buice

My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Stephanie Buice is up today with a step by step layout tutorial featuring our April Main Kit!

Here's Stephanie:

>>><<<

This is Lovely, By: Stephanie Buice

Step1: To start my layout I first picked out all the supplies from the Main Kit that I thought I's like to use on my layout. With so much to choose from it was hard to narrow it down so not everything made it onto my page.

Step 2: To create the background of my layout I used gelatos and different inks to make a little center spot on my page that I will use to define the "center" which will eventually be the focal point of my finished project.

Step 3: Once that was dry I started playing around with my pictures and placement. I layered them on top of a doily and decided on some of the butterflies from the Die Cut pack.

Step4: After getting those things in place I found that it was still a bit too plain, so I chose one of my favorite patterned papers from the kit to layer in behind the pictures.

Step 5: Looking at my layout I still felt like it needed more color so I decided to cute strips of the Pebbles Lilia patterned paper to try out under each of the butterflies. I liked it and wanted it to look like strips of washi tape so I simply tore off a bit from each of the ends to give it a "torn" look. I tore them in ascending sizes according to which butterfly they would be under.

Step 6: Once I got everything how I liked it I decided to add more ink on to the background, so I took everything back off my page and dropped down some ink spots. I didn't want the ink to take away from the "whiteness" of my layout so I just added a few drops here and there.

Step7: Then I placed everything back on my page but my pictures and embellishments that would go on top of them. Using some washi tape I held my bottom embellishment layer in place and I sewed a straight line down the center of my layout. I use this trick all the time so I don't have to glue down each piece, not only does it save me tons of time but it also keeps my needle from getting all sticky from the adhesive.

Step 8: After I sewed through my bottom layer of embellishments I once again placed my pictures and stuff back onto my page. Finally to finish off my layout I placed a few more of the die cuts under my pictures, glued them down and added a few sequins of my own here and there. And Voila! Complete!

How to Create Ombre Style Letters by Guest Designer Megan Klauer

Hello! We're kicking off our April tips and techniques with a fun alpha-altering tutorial from My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Megan Klauer who is featuring our April Limited Edition Kit!

Here's Megan:

>>><<<

Hello everyone! I don't know about you guys, but I am all about using my supplies to the fullest and coming up with unique ways to create my own out of what I have.

I am going to show you a step-by-step of how to create ombre style letters using the mistable Thickers in the April Limited Edition kit.

I choose 2 mists, a yellow & an orange which are really pretty similiar when watered down.

I sprayed the mist in a plastic product container (this was actually from the wood veneers also in the Limited Edition kit).

Using a paint brush I applied a bit of color to the left hand side. Just a small bit to start. I then used straight water and allowed the color to bleed to the left (just like you would with watercoloring).

As needed I added more color to the left and again worked on fading towards the right until I got just the look I wanted.

Again, something so simple yet a great way to extend your supplies and get a variation of results based on your color scheme.

Here I have them all together on my page to create a bold unique title.

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce our incredible April Guest Designers!

Please help us welcome returning Guest Designer
Lee-Anne Thornton

I live in Alberta, Canada with my husband and teenage son and have two older children that are both grown up and married.  Scrapbooking began as a way to document memories of my family several years ago, but in the past two years it has grown to be so much more.  I love the creative outlet it provides and how it is so therapeutic.  My style is eclectic  and I have many styles from a very clean design to shabby chic and whimsical.  It really is what I feel like creating.  I am blessed to be on several design teams and have had my layouts published in several Canadian, American and Australian scrapbooking magazines.  I love all the friends I have met in the scrapbooking world and couldn't be happier doing what I love to do.  Scrapbooking takes up most of my free time but when I'm not creating, I love to hang out with my husband and go for long drives to the mountains nearby and capture photographs of the beautiful landscapes, wildlife and flowers,  try some mixed media or bake and cook up a storm in the kitchen.  Please feel free to check out my blog and follow along at http://lee-annelovethejourney.blogspot.com/

Thank you Lee-Anne for your beautiful work with our Creative Kit!

Ginger Williams

Hi! I'm Ginger Williams from the Gulf Coast area of TX. I'm the mother of 3 rowdy, rough and tumble, amazing boys and one sweet, happy and loving baby girl. I'm lucky to be the wife of my best friend, an avid photographer, and a desperately addicted scrapbooker. I started scrapbooking back in 1996 while I was still is high school. Now I scrapbook pretty much daily!

My scrabooking style is linear and layered. I adore texture, small details, and bright colors. Small geometric or striped patterns are my favorite paper designs. I love straight lines and my circle cutters and circle punches, and die cut machines get a lot of work too! I also love bold titles, and any paper in my favorite color--orange! I love to make home decor with my scrapbook supplies and I also make cards, gift items, and design sketches.

As for my life outside scrapbooking, I love to read, quilt, surf, watch old musicals, and listen to oldies rock n' roll and country music. I volunteer at my church, at my boy's school, and with the Cub Scouts. I also do a little photography on the side--mostly weddings and families.

Thank you Ginger for contributing such beautiful layouts with the Creative Kit!

Please join us in welcoming Design Team member
Sandi Clarkson

Sandi guest designed with us last month, and we are thrilled that she is staying on to inspire us all as a full Design Team member.

My amazing husband and I live in the North Central Texas area in the USA. We have 3 grown daughters, 3 wonderful son-in-laws and lots of precious grandkids! I still work part-time as an Audiologist in the medical field but need the creative outlet scrapbooking provides! Although I have been a crafter of some sort all my adult life, my sister-in-law introduced me to this wonderful hobby about 7 years ago and I fell in love! It is truly my passion and I enjoy every minute of it! I love the artistic journey and am a huge fan of mixed media.

In 2009 I was pleased to be a co-creator and designer for Stuck on U Sketches challenge blog for 4 wonderful years. This year I am pleased to be designing for Creative Embellishments, Sketchabilities and HeArt & Soul Artists. I've had the pleasure of being on a wide variety of Design Teams: an online scrapbook store, several challenge blogs, manufacturers as well as kit clubs. I've also had some wonderful Guest Designer opportunities. My favorite thing though is Reveal Day! I hope I can provide you with a bit of inspiration this month with this amazing kit!

How to Create a Ribbon Banner by Guest Designer Lee-Anne Thornton

My Creative Scrapbook guest designer Lee-Anne Thornton is up today with a tutorial featuring our March Creative Kit!

Here's Lee-Anne:

>>><<<

Today I am sharing how I created my ribbon banner on my layout.

Cut the straw from the kit down to 4 inches in length and set aside.
Cut 3 strips of  red ribbon  1 1/2 inches in length and 4 strips of yellow ribbon 2 inches in length.  Using a strong adhesive glue one end of the ribbon

Wrap pieces of ribbon around straw

Alternate red and yellow ribbon strips and trim bottom edges to look like banners as shown.

Once all seven strips of ribbon are adhered to the straw sew across the ribbon just below the straw and secure edges.

Take a paper piercer and pierce a hole on each end of the straw

and attach a large red brad to each end.

Take your hot glue gun and secure the finished ribbon banner to the top left hand corner of the layout.

Add two small yellow brads as shown and also wrap and tie a bow around each large red brad.

Your banner is done!

Step by Step Layout Tutorial by Angel Rodrigue

My Creative Scrapbook design team member Angel Rodrigue is treating you to a start to finish layout tutorial today featuring our March Main Kit!

Here's Angel:

>>><<<

I wanted to share a step by step Tutorial on how I created my 2 Sweet layout using March's Main Kit.

First I started with this sheet of pattern paper that was in the kit and trimmed it to fit a 12 x 12 white cardstock. I wanted some white to peek out from all sides.

Then I cut another piece of pattern paper 9 x 7 3/4 inches as shown here..

After I used some store bought doilies. I used one doily and cut it in half and tucked it in as shown..
I wanted some banners to peek out as well so I  tucked that in as well.

Then I used the chipboard that was in the kit to add to the right side of this layout. Just have fun tucking and layering all the cute chipboard pieces .
Be sure to add  what you feel you need to make it special..

Then I added a bow to the # 2 and the bird piece.I also added silver Liquid Pearls to the banners in the form of dots.

Below is my final result. I added my photo and a title up above that along with a sticker element on the left of the picture.

Hope you enjoyed following along...Be sure to check out March's kits from My Creative Scrapbook!!
