Hello My Creative Scrapbook friends! Are you looking forward to the weekend?
We're wrapping up the month of May with some wonderful tips and techniques from design team member Carla.
Have you ever struggled with how to use feminine paper for a masculine page? Carla has a tip for that...
To get a cool effect for a boy's page, with this beautiful Webster's paper that is in the limited edition kit... I had done the corners of the paper design with a roughened sanding block and then treated with gesso and paint.
Next, Carla shares how she prepared a raw chipboard shape that came in the main kit:
I have colored this with Copic markers and that's a cool opportunity.
It's so fun to color in this way. I hope this is an idea for you.
How about the beautiful packaging that many of the products come in? Carla has a tip for that, too!
With this packaging I have made a notebook. So do not throw away your packaging too soon... you can use it.
I have made this for no pictures inside, the idea is for writing
ideas or something else!
I hope you like it too and have an idea what
you can do with packaging!
Okay friends, that's a wrap! See you tomorrow for some SNEAK PEEKS!

Creating a Tree Embellishment with Trudi
Hello everyone! Wow, it's nearly the end of May... just one day left in the month! June is just around the corner, and you know what that means?
Today we have another fantastic technique to share with you. Here's guest designer Trudi Harrison to tell you all about it...
To create the tree embellishment as seen on my layout 'Happy Home':
Use the template created to trace and cut around from a piece of patterned paper. Draw a tree trunk on a piece of paper. I wanted a fairly large tree and it measures approximately 11" in height. Once you are happy with the design and size, cut out.
To add a little definition, you may like to ink around the edges.
Punch out some leaves from patterned papers - I used a Martha Stewart punch. This is also great way for using up some scraps.
Now attach leaves to branches to recreate a tree canopy.
Thanks for stopping by today! We love having you visit and we appreciate your wonderful comments. Have a great day!
Sneak Peeks of the amazing June kits are coming soon!
The incredible June reveal is coming soon after that!
and... our HUGE June contest is coming!
YEA!!!
June 5th is certainly a day on which you'll want to consider checking in here.
There is going to be SO MUCH EYE CANDY for you to drool over...
but you'll have to come back to see.

Highlighting Colors in Photos with Kris
Hey everyone! Design team member Kris here today to share some simple tips for bringing out colors in your photographs.
For this layout I really wanted to highlight the gorgeous purple color of the lilacs in the photos...
I used two pieces of cardstock from my stash in shades of purple for the base of the layout as well as for some simple punched flowers.
The kit's letter stickers were blue, so I applied two coats of purple acrylic paint to the letters that I was going to use.
After the letters were completely dry, I adhered them to my layout.
Give this a try! We love to see your creations in our gallery, so come on, show us what you've created!

Adding Depth to Hand Cut Elements with Jolaine
Happy Friday! As you head into your creative space this weekend, we hope you'll consider trying out some of the wonderful techniques that the design team has been sharing over the past several days.
We've got another really great tip to share today... here's design team member Jolaine to tell you about it!
Hand cut elements are always a great way to decorate your pages but to add depth and make them stand out, I like to use Pop Dots, problem is, they can be pricey! My solution is to pop up my detailed cuts using cardboard!
Thanks for the great idea, Jolaine!
One last thing... is anyone else getting REALLY EXCITED about June 5th?! If you haven't heard the news, you'll want to check out the June contest announcement, here. There's mention of Prima... bling... box full of free products... need I say more...?!

All you need is a glimmer mist and a flower punch.
Lightly spray them on one side.
They do not have to be really wet.
Just gently crumple them up.
Just like so.
Then let it dry or use a heatgun.
When dry gently undo the petals letting the crumple shape stay in the petals.
Glue them all together with a dab of glue in the centers.
And a Prima little flower in the center and some beads with glue.
Here is a close up of the finished flower.
I hope I inspired you today with this fun flower tutorial.
We hope you will give Carla's flower technique a try! We'd love to see your creations uploaded to our gallery.

Masking Technique with Zoe
Hello everyone! We hope you've been enjoying the wonderful tips and techniques that the design team has been sharing. If you've had a chance to try any of them, we'd absolutely love to see your creations uploaded to our gallery!
Today design team member Zoe is showing us a fantastic masking technique. Here's Zoe...
I really loved the Chevron paper in the May Album kit... So I decided to use it as a mask... You get 2 of each sheet so if you have some chevron left over as scraps this is the perfect technique for you to try.
I also cut a border from another sheet within the kit and adhered it to some white cardstock. I then laid down my chevron shape.
Now ink lightly to achieve the masked effect. I used weathered wood distress ink from Ranger.
Layer the chevrons. You can do as many or as little as you like.
Finish up your layout as you normally would... and you have an awesome background which adds so much depth to your projects :)

Ribbon Flowers, Rub-on Embellishing, and Gesso Stamping with Romy
Good day My Creative Scrapbook friends! We're back to share more fantastic tips and techniques to use on your projects, this time with design team member Romy.
Next, Romy shares some fabulous techniques for enhancing the May kit rub-ons.
You can use rub-ons both for some added details to your pages and as an embellishment. I thought this birdcage was so pretty, so I wanted to give it a prominent place on my layout.
1. I first rubbed this rub-on onto a piece of white cardstock and cut along the edges.
2. Then I adhered the birdcage to my layout with foam tape to make it pop a bit more.
3. For some finishing touches the birdcage was decorated with liquid pearls and glitter glue.
Lastly, Romy shows us a quick, fun technique for adding detail with gesso.
To add a little detail to this layout, I simply dipped a pen in some gesso and "stamped" with it on my layout.
First, check out Romy's creative use of the rose ribbon in the May kit!
Here's Romy...
The rose ribbon in the main kit is so beautiful. But you can do more with the ribbon than just use it the way it is.
For example, I created these flowers with it. On this layout, I used five roses to make my flowers, but you can use as many as you like.
Cut the lace, which is the backdrop of the roses, away. Try to not cut in the grey balls on the backside, cause these hold the white pearls in the roses.
Cut the roses away and position them in the desired way.
Stitch the roses together.
This will be the final result.

That's it for today! We hope you'll give Romy's techniques a try.
By the way... if you haven't already done so, you might want to take out your calendar, and put a great big MCS on there on June 5th, so that you don't miss the start of our wonderful June contest!

Using Packaging as a Mask with Rachael
Woohoo it's FRIDAY!!! Do you have any scrapbooking plans this weekend?
Today design team member Rachael is sharing her technique for using packaging as a mask... you've GOT to see this!
Here's Rachael...
When I open up my kits I always check out the packaging as well as all the gorgeous goodies inside them, the packaging for the Pink Paislee rub ons had a lovely scalloped top which I knew had to be used somewhere on my pages. I decided to create a mask...
1. Mark out a 9x9 square in the centre of a spare/scrap piece of 12x12 cardstock, place the scalloped packaging in the centre of each side and draw around it. You will have a gap left in each corner.
2. Join up each scalloped line using a curved object, I simply drew around a small matt.
3. This is what you should have drawn on your paper.
4. My initial idea was to just use the mask to create a background on the white cardstock and I wanted to edge the page so I trimmed a tiny slither off each side of the 12x12 paper. I then carefully cut out the center of the paper and stuck the left over frame onto the centre of my cardstock.
5. Mist over the paper, concentrate on the area right next to the mask so that the middle only gets a tiny bit of misting.
6. Remove the mask and this is what you should be left with.
7. I decided to cut out the misted shape in the end and matt it onto a separate piece of white cardstock.
We hope you'll give this technique a try :)
