Rachael- fussy cutting chipboard technique

I love fussy cutting and when I saw the chipboard roses I just wanted to get at it with the scissors but obviously where it was chipboard it was a bit difficult. I decided to have a go at splitting the chipboard..

Posted Image

I started by running the knife very carefully horizontally through the chipboard.

Posted Image

Once I had made a start with the knife I peeled the rest apart by hand doing it very slowly to make sure it didn't rip.

Posted Image

I was left with this, the top layer was still thicker than normal paper but I was able to cut around the image.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our Newest DT member...You already know how awesome she creates with the MCS Kits because she has been a GDT for a little while. Her talent is as beautiful as her sweet personality. Please help us give a warm MCS welcome to...

My name is Kris Berc.  I’m from the Chicago suburbs, but I have been living in a small isolated town in Wyoming for the past 5 years.  I am a 40-year-old mother to an amazing 2-year-old daughter, and I have a wonderful husband of 6 years who is completely supportive of my scrapbooking addiction.  I work part-time outside of my home assessing students with learning and behavior difficulties and helping their schools to plan educational programs for them.
I discovered scrapbooking in 2004 and have since been getting to know the creative side of me that I didn’t previously realize I had!  This hobby is such a large part of my everyday life… I spend nearly every free moment doing something related to it whether it’s actual crafting, taking photos, or hanging out online to chat, to exchange inspiration, or to shop for more products.  There are so many things that I love about scrapbooking, some of the most valuable being the lasting friendships that I have gained along the way.
I’ve been very fortunate to have had a variety of design team and guest designer experiences, including My Little Shoebox, Momenta, and others.  I’ve also been lucky enough to have had some work published in a Create: idea book, Scrapbook and Cards Today, CARDS, and online magazines.
My Creative Scrapbook has had a large part in my creative growth.  Not only are the kits the best in the industry, but the design team and members are incredibly inspirational and supportive of one another.  Being a part of the MCS family is an amazing opportunity that I’m so very grateful for.
I would love to have you visit me on my blog: http://stashofprettypaper.blogspot.com

We had an awesome Guest Designer with us this month...Take a moment to check out her awesome creations....

Melissa Pablo

Hi! My name is Melissa but many of you knows me as Isay (my childhood nickname). i am a wife, a mother to three beautiful blessings, a full time nurse, and a part-time student. My family is the main subject of my scrapbook pages. i love taking pictures of our everyday lives and record them in my scrapbbok pages. I've always been into arts & crafts and i started scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my second child. This hobby has helped me a lot with keeping my sanity intact from my very demanding job, relieve some of my anxiety, and boost up my self-esteem. I have no definite style in scrapbooking but I do love lots of layers, textures, and fussy cutting on my layouts. I am currently part of Nikki Sivils Design Team. I feel so honoured and proud to be a GDT of My Creative Scrapbook as i have always been inspired by the monthly kits and the DT's beautiful creations. Thank you so much to Pam for this wonderful opportunity and i hope to inspire you all... http://isay-creativegenius.blogspot.com/

Rachael...How to alter Thickers with gesso

I wanted the AC thickers to blend more into my pages so the black was too bold so I gave them a bit of a make over...

1. I stuck all the characters that I needed onto the plastic packaging that the MME buttons came in.
2. Then I sponged a layer of gesso over them all, I find sponging give a better coverage and also leaves each character with a great texture.
3. When the gesso was dry I sponged a thick layer of white crackle paint over each one and once they started to crack gave them a blast with the heat gun (just be careful with the plastic packaging!!)
4. Carefully peel each character off and ink the edges.

Use modeling paste and mist and mask onto cover. (but I decided to cover most of it up at the end. lol)

Apply Shimmerz paint to some parts.

Flower kit tutorial...wall hanging by Delaina

I created these Cute Wall Hangings using inexpensive Embroidery Hoops, Alpha Stickers, Ribbon, Screen (from your local hardware store or Wal mart), a little White Paint and the March Flower Kit. (or any flowers you have on hand from any of the kits or your stash)

1. Open the Embroidery Hoop and push the Screen through to sandwich it tight. Cut the excess screen from the back.

2. Paint it all over, White. If the screen holes get clogged up, then push a pin through while the paint is still wet to unclog. Let Dry completely.

3. Add your flowers with a little wet glue and let dry completely.

4. Tie your ribbon in a bow around the top of the tightening device on the Hoop.

That's it!

Zoe...misting tips ..come join the fun

Hi Ladies, I wanted to share how I did the mist and outline on this layout.

Posted Image

Gather up a few supplies I used 3 mist colours that complimented the papers.

Posted Image

Next place your screen where you want it and spray fully with 3 colours. I actually mop with a paper towel between each colour.

Next once dry.... very important that the paper is dry. Lightly outline the edges of your misted screen. I go freehand if you want to use the screen to trace around that great but your outline will be a little inside of the colour.

Posted Image

I just flicked some glimmer glaze and used the viva pearls to add a little extra texture.

Hope you enjoy :)
